Chestnut
Dang that wood is beautiful. I'm still waiting for the finished picture? Did I miss it?

Popular Post Coop
Finally time to put this project to bed as it has gone much longer than it should have. Although the sub-top, sides and bottom are all solid wood and the grain runs the same way, I’m taking caution on wood movement. That and the fact that this is one heavy piece and will probably be picked up/moved by gripping the top, I cut elongated screw holes in the sub-top with a plunge router and a throw down jig. Then attached the top with screws and washers, remembering Steve’s advise to sign and date. Then recruited some help after Thanksgiving diner to move it into place. I was planning on mounting the tv above on the wall but to save time, trouble and expense, I will set it on top to see how it looks ,

gee-dub
I don't put a clock on my stuff but I know what it feels like to think things are taking too long. No matter what that piece came out beautifully.

wtnhighlander
That looks really nice, Ken! I really like the color contrasts, and execution looks spot-on. Congrats on a project well done. Did your moving help try to talk you into moving it to THEIR house?
Chestnut
Excellent work. I really like the outcome and how the walnut works with the maple once finish is applied. I have to admit part of me was skeptical at first. I think the glass doors are a nice touch as well as extending them all the way to the top. The piece has ended up looking very delicate in a graceful way. I am under no illusion that it isn't anything but sturdy though.
