Coop
Yeah, I knew that! Another good idea. But what if I have HF drill bits?
Chestnut
Looking good. Drill bit never thought of that. I used to have home made setup blocks around that i'd use. The scale on my plunge base is pretty acurate so i just started using that.
Immortan D
Using drill bits as setup blocks is a great idea! Never thought of that. Project is looking great!
wdwerker
A big set of drill bits certainly has more increments than any set of "set up blocks" that I have ever seen.

Im curious to see your process with this on the soft maple. I did a few samples for a project I was working on (dressers for my kids) and didnt like the outcome so i went with a pigmented lacquer instead. Of course it gave a different look than a stain. It would probably save a lot more time.

It will be a combination between gray stain and pickling. It took me about fifty test runs to get one I like.
Popular Post bradpotts
Got the back panels cut out of ply. Drilled the adjustable shelf pins with the true positioner. It is expensive but well worth the money in my opinion. It is made for drilling drawer and door pulls. Here is the case. Started working on cutting the holes for the screws. I just used my domino. Although it is going to be covered, I am going to cut out plugs using my cnc. I just want to see how they look in case I want to try it on another project.

wdwerker
That line bore jig is really nice. I got one last year and it met my expectations. I've had the other version for 25 +years. It's mostly fit installing pulls & knobs. It paid for itself on the first job.

Even the box that it comes in is quality.
pkinneb
Brad your project is coming along nicely! I may have to pickup that jig when I do the upper shelves in my office that is pretty slick. Hey one tip on your journal if you hit return after you type your description your pics won't end up split by the pic. Might just be me but find it a bit hard to read.

Popular Post bradpotts
Used my cnc to cut out the plugs for the screws that I made with my domino. Now that I have the case done, I started on the trim. I used dominos to install them. The reason they are out so far is because of the face frame and the hardware that the customer wants to use. I used the trim as a guide to cut the domino in the sides.
Chet
I must be a real greenhorn because I just saw a whole handful of tricks here that I haven't seen before. I like the track saw track idea. I have a clamp down straight edge but it isn't very big and the tracks open a lot more length options with out having to make another purchase.

Popular Post bradpotts
I had to take a little break on the project for two reasons. 1st I had my second daughter last Saturday. 2nd I had to make a archway for a business. But I was finally able to get some work on the cabinet. I got the trim installed on the side and made the frames for the front.
