Popular Post treeslayer
heres some pictures of that cherry bed I've been working on, finally done. the posts are a full 1 3/4" thick, floating panels on the foot and headboard, 3 coats of ARS satin, the tenons are pegged with round dowels and then i used a chisel to inset the square pieces in walnut. its more sapwood than i would have liked but the deal i got on it from the wife's cousin was too good to pass up so i played the cards i was dealt. comments and questions are always welcome, thanks for looking guys

treeslayer
thanks guys, the pegs are 1/4" and 3/8" square and as i said are decorative but still some work, but good practice with the chisels

estesbubba
That is very nice and I like the sapwood especially on the footboard. I've used square plugs on several of my projects and like the look. Post another picture here in six months after that cherry ages.

Coop
IMO, sapwood has it's place and you nailed it. Great job Dave! 1 hour ago, RichardA said: Still knocking it outa the park Dave! I'm digging that little chair. thanks Ice, i made that a couple of years ago just for fun and knew there was a cherry bed going in that room, not that big of a room so small desk and chair
BeautysBeast
I really don't understand people's dislike of sap wood. Personally, I like it. It makes the wood look like it is flowing. Dave, you did an awesome job on the bed. I can only hope when I finish mine, it looks as good.

Chestnut
Looks good. I like what you did with the sap wood. I have some cheery with a lot of sap wood sitting in my pile and i'm trying to figure out how best to use it. Wish i could just knock it outta the park like you. Unknown craftsman
Lookin good Treeslayer,I don't think it's too much sapwood. Aj
mat60
I like the stile and also think you have done nice work with this. I feel that sapwood looks fine with this build because of the way you have used it in different places. It doesn't look like a mistake like it would if it was just in one area. wnaziri
The bed looks nice. When I look at it, I really do not notice the sapwood that much. I am looking at the rest of the wood and design. So, don't dwell on the sapwood. Nicely done.
