pkinneb
Hey folks my Sawstop 3hp PCS is being delivered Monday and was wondering do they come with a power cord and plug? My PM66 did not wondering if I need to pick them up. Thanks
drzaius
I think it came with a straight blade cord end, but can't remember for sure. I chopped mine off short & made a longer cord with twist-lock ends. You're going to enjoy assembling that thing. Great instructions & they have it packaged in such a way that you can do it all without help.

Rjweb
Yes it comes with a cord and plug, where my saw is the cord was too short (3 ft), so I bought new wire and plug and was easy to wire up, RJ
Jfitz
Congrats! I have that saw, and I really like it. Instructions/manual definitely top notch. I don't recall mine coming with a power cord. I had to go get one and wire it in.
Chet
Mine came with one but it is the 1.75 so that might make a difference, I don't know. If you want to be sure give SawStop's tech support a quick call.
Pondhockey
Have any of you triggered the stop in your Sawstop?
pkinneb
Awesome thanks guys! I will pull the one off my PM because its like 12' with a twist lock end.

I have but not with a finger. When I first got my Incra miter gauge I didn't have it set right and it grazed the blade. But it happens so fast there isn't any sign of contact on the miter gauge. It gets your attention though because there is a loud slam when it happens.

It not only has flesh sensing tech, it can also sense a stupid operator. I was cutting a board with graphite cloth glued to it. And graphite is conductive. Duh... 2 hours ago, Chet K said: Mine came with one but it is the 1.75 so that might make a difference, I don't know. If you want to be sure give SawStop's tech support a quick call. The 3 HP definately comes with a cord. I wanted a longer cord, but rather then disembowel the starter to install a new cord, I just cut it to about 1' & put a new twist lock end on.
Barron
It comes with cord and plug. If you go on line you can see the manual and there is a drawing of the plug. Their plug didn't match my outlet, so I had to cut it off and put on a new one. Easy to do. You will like the saw.

Pondhockey
Chet, Dr, How long to replace the cartridge and get the saw running again? What did that cost you?
Popular Post Chet
Its a matter of going to your closest supplier and getting a new blade and brake. The change out is just a matter of minutes. The trunnion gets pushed down in the braking process so you have to pull that back into position also. All in all a little more time then a regular blade change. I don't keep a spare brake around for 2 reasons. One, its $70 sitting on the shelf doing nothing and two, I think that if it were a flesh contact that the best thing would be to walk away from it for a while and clear the gray matter. Slamming another brake in and going back at it might not be the best thing.
gee-dub
I always seem to be the contrary one . . . I have a spare regular and a spare dado cartridge. I have only tripped the machine by cutting some UHMW plastic that I failed to recall was anti-static (read, conductive). My nearest Saw Stop dealer is 35 miles away on SoCal freeways so I keep a spare on hand.

Takes about 2 minutes (or less) to get going again. Cartridge was $98 & the blade (almost brand new Freud Premier Fusion) was fortunately on sale for $89.00. Those are Canadian prices; much cheaper for you folks.
Dknapp34
Haven't set off a brake yet, but I did drop the regular brake on the floor while installing the dado brake and it broke into pieces. Art
I'd read about how easy it was to put together, but my dealer assembled and delivered it for me. This is why I'll buy from him when I can. As far as the plug is concerned, there is a picture of it on the online instructions, so I just made sure my electrician had that when wiring up my garage. ben_r_
I have spares of each on hand. Would probably stop for the day if I ever triggered the brake due to hitting flesh, but I wouldnt want to wait for a week or so for a replacement to come. Pondhockey
All reasonable replies. I caught myself reaching across a spinning blade the other day, for a cut piece. It was almost like watching a horror movie, so I took a break, and reviewed the safety procedures in the manual. I definitely see the value of a Sawstop.

I happens so fast that it takes a moment to realize what has taken place. I found that replacing both (blade and cartridge) took a little longer than just a changeover due to disengaging the blade from the cartridge. I keep one standard spare and take my chances on the dado. I have more (if that is possible) fear/respect for multiple spinning blades. The sound of a single blade is much different than a stack of blades and chipper's. You'll notice the first time you turn on the dado stack. mat60
Do you Saw Stop guys feel you still have as much fear and respect for your saw as you did before your purchase? I wonder if I would.

Its still a huge, deadly looking, spinning blade! NO im not LESS afraid of it! And NO I dont want to find out how well or even IF the flesh detection feature works! I just wanted a highest quality built saw with the best dust collection and the added bonus that hopefully itll save my hand should I ever do something dumb. Still have a solid respect and fear of the saw.
