Botch Posted June 3, 2024 Report Posted June 3, 2024 It wasn't the cashier's fault, folks. This was a conscious decision at BK corporate to show one price, near the photo and in large font, then offer only two sizes, and up-price them both. in small font. I'm sure that most people, when given the choice between the two sizes, automatically assume the smaller of the two will cost $8.99; it won't, it will cost $10.39. #burgerkingsux Quote
Tom King Posted June 3, 2024 Report Posted June 3, 2024 We had quit eating anything from fast food places well before the pandemic. This is extra reason for us to avoid Burger King. We don't eat processed food, and the idea of eating a hot dog or french fries is almost nauseating to me now. 1 Quote
Tom King Posted June 3, 2024 Report Posted June 3, 2024 I didn't end up doing anything today since I wasn't any good for anything after staying up all night last night with Pam delivering puppies. First one was born at 1:20 and the sixth and last one was born at 6:37 this morning. All strong and healthy. Pam and I mostly just napped all day today. 2 Quote

I don’t go to fast food often but I think the last time I went I noticed that the primary price displayed was for the sandwich and then the secondary prices were for combos. Quote

No. There was a totally different (much-lower) price for sandwich-only. I guess tomorrow I need to photograph this sign, and post it, as nobody is getting what I'm trying to convey here, on this or several other forums (I'm not the best verbal communicator, I admit). #burgerkingsux Quote
pkinneb Posted June 4, 2024 Report Posted June 4, 2024 Cut and cleaned up some veneer I need for another urn... I actually cut enough for three or four so I have stock on hand. 3 Quote

Popular Post gee-dub Posted June 5, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 5, 2024 Oh goody. The first local fire of the season. California residents, past and present know that it isn't "Will there be a fire this year? It's when". This is kind of our version of the recurring hurricanes other parts of the country experience. The storm is almost assured; a tornado may be a bonus. For us it's fire and earthquakes . We live in a nice little slice of pie shaped area between two swathes of national reserve land. In SoCal that means scrub brush. In summer, scrub brush means fire. We have a large golf course about a mile away that has very large water features. These are used by the fire helicopters to load their bellies with water dumps. They are in action now and doing their usual excellent job. If things get ugly the planes will start dropping retardant as I have shown in last year's posts. All is well so far. Like tornadoes in Kansas, we just roll with this out here. 3 2 Quote

Popular Post gee-dub Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 6, 2024 Looks like they have it "contained". Around here that means they have it cordoned off and will monitor it as it runs out of fuel. About 30 acres burned it seems. Small by SoCal standards but, when it is in your neighborhood it is more than big enough 5 Quote
Popular Post pkinneb Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 6, 2024 I was able to take a few hours off work today and get the panels knocked out. Just need to inlay the cross and they will be ready to go 8 Quote
Popular Post legenddc Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 6, 2024 Got all the dowels drilled earlier and did a dry assembly. Tonight I sanded the inside edges on 2 of the rectangles and glued up 1. 6 Quote

Popular Post legenddc Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 6, 2024 Yesterday I had to take my contacts out. Thought it was allergies. Woke up at 1 AM and 6 AM with my eyes stuck shut. Did a virtual doctor's appointment this morning and I'm off soon to go pick up some medication for pink eye. On 6/6/2024 at 8:54 AM, Mark J said: I forgot what we're making? I'm making a kitchen table base for a glass table for someone. She wants to replace the shiny silver base with a wood one that matches the chairs. It's going to get a fairly heavy round over to be closer to the chair legs and stained. 8 Quote
Popular Post pkinneb Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 6, 2024 ...and the cross cavity is cut...while the shaper makes it easer, still makes me nervous to cut these in after serveral hours of cutting/placing/glueing the rays lol 7 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted June 7, 2024 Report Posted June 7, 2024 @pkinneb, I sympathize with that concern. Would it feel more natural or safer, to use the Shaper to make a template, then a regular flush trim bit with the template to make the actual pocket? Quote

I think its more in my head than anything I offset the cut to the inside leaving about 1/32" for the final pass and I haven't had any issues with the three I have done. It's just the pressure of messing it up when i'm under a time crunch I really need to make a couple extra and have them on the shelf Made it to glue up tonight...final finish tomorrow and i'll be done with a couple days to spare Oh and this is why I only use Woodslicer resaw blades for resawing, this is right off the saw! 5 Quote
legenddc Posted June 7, 2024 Report Posted June 7, 2024 Those are very cool clamps for gluing up boxes. I hope you don't have to make more. Keeping a couple extra on the shelf sounds a bit depressing. 1 Quote

He was 86, lived a good life, and will not be cremated so a little bit easier to deal with then my 34 yr old nephew. 6 Quote
