When is that expected, or is my memory off? Like making a playset? I don't remember mentioning that on here. I haven't been posting or reading much because i've been on a paternity leave of sorts that has left me more busy than less. 5 Quote

Popular Post gee-dub Posted July 14, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 14, 2024 Well, that's embarrassing . . . I finally got around to swapping my "winter" bib-style shop apron for my "summer" waist-style shop apron. When I went to buckle it on it was too small . 1 6 Quote

Popular Post wtnhighlander Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 15, 2024 Narrowly avoided a house fire today. Sunlight through the garage window, apparently focussed and reflected from the car headlight, set this cardboard box smoldering. If Cody hadn't seen it while taking out the trash, who knows what might have happened. Looks like curtains are in order for the garage windows! 4 2 3 Quote

legenddc Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 You're lucky Cody saw it. That's a crazy story. Reminds me, I keep getting emails from Home Depot asking how I'm liking the fire extinguisher I purchased... 1 Quote
Mark J Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 Wow, gotta wonder what else might be in the path of this spontaneous "ray gun"? So, yeah, curtains or something. 1 Quote

Talk about a perfect storm. I wonder if it is even possible to figure the odds on that happening. 1 Quote
Tom King Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 I put some of this on our one main solar gain window and it makes a noticeable difference. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092JC3G9C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title? 1 Quote
Tpt life Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 I have done the same on windows where we have not yet updated to modern glass and coatings. 1 Quote
Popular Post legenddc Posted July 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 16, 2024 Might have to pick up some of that window film for one of our sliding doors. Really heats up the living room which is great in the winter but not so much when it's 100 out. Wasn't planning on expanding my ToughSystem collection but the recent sale at Home Depot pushed me over the edge. The stack on the left and in the middle are the new ones. 2 drawer is plumbing 3 drawer is electrical tools, outlets, soldering irons 1 large box is drywall repair 1 large box is painting Still empty Small box - possibly use this for my impact wrench and impact sockets Small box #2 - might put all things related to trim molding in here Large box - electric power washer if it fits. Need to grab it back from my dad 4 Quote

Also have a rolling box for larger and heavier things. Another thing I've done is get some of the organizers for each area to store small items (connectors, wall anchors, screws for electrical, tape, fittings, valves for plumbing, etc.). Sure makes it easy to grab and go while knowing that I probably have everything I need. 1 Quote

Once I use them a bit I might get some foam inserts for a few of them to keep tools in their place. I should have bought another 2 or 3 drawer instead of the additional small/large box but I didn't have a plan for them. I'll eventually get some of the half size organizers and use them for some tool specific setups like a drill or multi-tool. I briefly had the large rolling one but it didn't fit in my trunk. Everything is stored in my basement and the front walk has some steps so it's not as useful. I will grab a Harbor Freight dolly if I need to roll them around down the line. Quote

I just got some of the DeWalt (DWST08202) ones that are Tough System compatible when they were on sale at HD last Black Friday for I think $10 each. I always make sure that they have the removable bins instead of just dividers. Makes it a lot easier to get stuff out. 1 Quote

On the chart it takes 50 hp to move 2300 gpm at 1400 rpm. The motor is straight coupled to the pump with a couple of u-joints in a drive shaft. I'm going to have to limit the rpms some sort of way. The gasketed PVC pipe joints are only rated for 200 psi. Picture is right after we took it off the trailer. I pressure washed the dust off of it and put a tongue jack on it. That's probably all it will get for a while. 6" inlet and 5" out. The pump is a lot newer than the motor. Looks like it started life as a fire pump. The motor looks original to the way it was mounted, but there has been a lot of work to the frame and the pump was changed just a year before the seller stopped using it according to him. It's a pretty big thing. Tires outside to outside is 75". Turns out I was told wrong by the seller about the motor. It's not a Mopar small block 360. I got around to looking up the numbers cast on the block and it's a Mopar big block 400. I had been studying the pump specs and the stock 360 was not enough hp for it. I couldn't understand how they were using it with a stock small block, so looked up the numbers. It will be this Fall before I'll have time to work on it. 2 Quote

Popular Post legenddc Posted July 17, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 17, 2024 Apparently I have a floor and a workbench top in this little tool closet. Got rid of a bunch of random bolts and screws. Have some stuff to give away/donate and some for a dump run. 7 Quote
Popular Post legenddc Posted July 19, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 19, 2024 A buddy from work texted me late in the day and said someone left a saw at his apartment complex dumpster. It was an older Jet missing the motor and fence but it did have cast iron wings. Went over after dinner with my son and took the wings off. Thankfully I brought my impact wrench so he was able to zip off the bolts while I held the wing. Hit one of them briefly with a scotchbrite pad on my ROS. More cleanup to do and then I get to drill new mounting holes. 6 Quote

Popular Post legenddc Posted July 19, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 19, 2024 Off by this much on one of the holes. Guess I will have to make that an oval somehow. 4 Quote
