Popular Post wdwerker
VinnyJoJo found a deal on machines and offered me first shot at the dust collection system. Guy got transferred and was liquidating the whole shop. Pipes never got hooked up to any tools, twin HEPA filters new in the box. Parts in boxes that I have no idea where they go. 7" pipe sections and several ells. 5 hp is probably way more than I need but who can pass up new equipment with all the accessories at half price ? 4 hours to break it all down and barely fit it all in the van. Completely forgot to take any pictures other than to document the wiring on the starter/control box. I even scored the 220v cable that ran the whole length of the house. All the weight on those big cyclones is at the top. I came close to getting away from us taking it down, blood was spilled and my back is already complaining. I'm starting to realize these dust systems are more work than I ever thought. 8
Jfitz
Congrats!! Sounds like a great score. As far as "instructions" to figure out where those parts go, I'd like to think that all that info is online somewhere - and if not, call Oneida and see if they can help. Chestnut
The DC systems are a pain but boy are they worth it. You'll love that new DC! Congrats to Vinny on the PM jointer as well.
Tom King
Good deal!! I'm anxious to hear if you think it's more than you need after you've been using it.

Rent a Genie-Lift when it is time to put it back up. Makes it safe and easy. some of the best money I ever spent and it was cheap to rent. Like a lightweight hand-crank forklift mated with an engine hoist. Gets into tight spots, allows good control. Dropped my blower right on to the capture bolts for wall hanging.
Pondhockey
So your lungs will love you but your back hates you. I'm with gee-dub - don't kill yourself trying to be healthy!
JosephThomas
Nice haul. Where is @vinnyjojo with pics of the jointer?
wdwerker
You'll have to ask Vinny. Damn thing weighs so much I went to buy a come along tonight so we can jack it up vertical. 5hp American made Baldor motor felt like it weighed several hundred pounds by itself. The upper sections of the cyclone are made of very heavy gauge steel. Even with the short drum for the dust the total height is just over 100" . This is some of the other stuff that came with the deal. Started measuring today and several days work rearranging & modifying cabinets will need to happen to create the space for this monster. I figured out the footprint will be around 40" x 72" with the filters right beside it. I'm pretty sure it will suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch !
Popular Post drzaius
Remember what happened to Don's teeth when he got a little too close. 2
wdwerker
That was the funniest post I've ever seen on this Forum. Maybe a more computer savvy member will post a link to Don /Particleboard's tale of his encounter with a powerful dust collector so newer members can enjoy it. Coop
I don’t think that’s the right tooth story is it Ross. That was back in 2012 and I came on in 2015 and remember the story. Was that PB’s forum name back then? Maybe so, still funny! Whatever happened to Duck?
wdwerker
If I remember right he coughed out his false teeth and the dust collector sucked them up. He had to listen to them rattling through all the pipes and then go fish them out of the dust bin. He was suprised they were intact. Duck bought a house and then didn't post as much. He was last here August 2017.
Coop
Thanks Steve. That’s the way I remember it. Amazing how many have come and gone, and come and stayed. Great group here, still!
socoj2
This was the same haul i got my chisels and other stuff from. Vinny bought me two veritas Dovetail saws as a commission. I also picked up some stupid expensive marking gauge, an Air compressor, and some other miscellaneous items.
wdwerker
Don't we all endulge in a stupid expensive tool from time to time ? I've got a beryllium copper trim hammer. They only made them for a few years.

wdwerker
Got a come along and started cranking it up to vertical . Its sure going to eat up some floor space . Then we got back to the big arch and glued it up .
