I'm pretty sure you're correct but, I can wait and see what the new machine shows up with.. There's certainly no rush for the cord.. I have it either way.. Chestnut
I needed nothing on the PM1000, PJ882, and i only needed a plug for the 15HH so who knows. I'm kinda of hoping the saw just works for you. Though you have had a raw shake so selling it and getting something that won't make you angry when you look at it might be a good investment. I have no faith in Powermatic (or Jet or their other brands) and won't buy anything from them in the future. I am however, going to ride this saw out for the duration of the warranty period before thinking about moving on. I honestly reviewed (negatively) this one at a bit short of a year. I won't be surprised if the next one has a similar review at about the same time but, will offer that review at that time. As much as I've (deservedly) bashed this saw, when it's functioning correctly, the saw is an absolute pleasure to use. I really do believe the issues are a result of PMs move to Taiwan! Chip Sawdust
I have the PM mortiser and a Jet air filter hanging from the ceiling but I tend to go for less expensive power tools (my Laguna bandsaw an exception). Since they’re all being built overseas any more it seems like same factory, different paint. Tbh the PM mortiser fence is rather a joke, it’s so loose and not self-aligning. It’s all a crapshoot any more. While not top of the line, for example, I really like my Ridgid TS for thé money spent *shrug* Ive spent more on hand planes and saws than power tools I think
pkinneb
Honestly it's kinda sad. I have had many Jet/Powermatic/Delta quality tools over the years but anymore seems like you have to go foreign if you want the quality. I still have a couple Jet sanders and a Delta DP and lathe (who's days are numbered if you read the internet) but really unfortunate that affordable quality tools seem to be going away. When I started out $3K BS and $5K JP were not an option...

It's obvious they did this to cut labor costs but, is that to keep our cost down or improve their profits? I don't honestly know but, when in doubt, I usually follow the money. 2

That may be so, no argument there. But I think the blame still lies squarely on the shoulders of PM management. They are the ones accepting the substandard quality. Taiwan & China are fully capable of manufacturing some excellent equipment. It's the companies paying them to make stuff that call the quality shots.

Chet
Maybe PM had their hand in it. But having said that a sight should either have reviews, all of them, from 1 to 5 stars, or no reviews at all. There shouldn't be any censorship. I can understand removing something because of foul language but nothing else. And the manufacturer shouldn't having any say in the reviews other then fixing the quality or issue. Do they give any reasoning for how it “doesn’t meet their guidelines?” It’s one thing to remove profanity or personnel names or pricing references, but simply to remove a review because it is negative is shady. Coop
I’ve never been one to talk politics (?) but, we, The USA, doesn’t fab much anymore and we’re at the mercy of Asia’s quality control and that’s darn scary. Low pay and p*#s poor quality.

Low pay and p*#s poor quality. I do agree with you Coop.. However, PM is replacing the saw which is a good thing. At least they're making an effort. ACME on the other hand is censoring the review thereby not letting potential buyers see an accurate review of the product they received. How likely are you to trust a review from them in the future? Are they the only ones that do this? Is there any recourse?

That's utterly ridiculous what guideline did you not meet? The if it isn't a good review we won't allow it guideline! I have purchased thousands of dollars in equipment form Acme over the years and this is frankly absurd! I wasn't that bothered by this event (sorry Kev) becuase lemons do happen but to sensor reviews is just flat wrong and really has my blood boiling!!!
