And the 50 mm jaws would have come with the chuck body. 1 Quote
fcschoenthal Posted March 12, 2025 Report Posted March 12, 2025 I got that set as well, when I got my G3, to help hold when I was drilling out blanks. 1 Quote
Popular Post pkinneb Posted March 30, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted March 30, 2025 I received my Rob Cosman mortise chisels yesterday. While the Narex get the job done and are priced right the RC chisels are more balanced and not so straining on my hands in use But those handles have to go!! Time to fire up the lathe and turn some more cocobolo ones to match my other chisels. Much better 8 Quote
fcschoenthal Posted March 31, 2025 Report Posted March 31, 2025 I've got a set of the Narex mortice chisels as well and hate the handles. Good thing I don't use them much, as I don't have the time, nor inclination to turn new ones. Your cocobolo ones look great and I'm sure are much nicer to use. 2 Quote

I'm interested in the turning and installation techniques and methods. 1 Quote

I will probably just cut a square blank install it in my nova chuck and turn and drill the center hole on the lathe. I suspect this is how I did it last time but honestly cant remember. I'll post pics so I know next time 4 Quote
Popular Post Mark J Posted April 1, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 1, 2025 I find that years (or even weeks) later I can't remember how I did an operation. So I'm trying to make it a habit to take process pictures of any project I make. 4 Quote

I often have ah-ha's as I write about things. 3 Quote
Popular Post Coop Posted April 4, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 4, 2025 Not woodworking and it didn’t come in the mail but I’m an opportunist. I was helping my brother clean up a storage area of his and we came across these and now I’m the proud owner. Not sure what the item on the left is? The instructions on the side says to fill with gasoline and tighten all fittings before lighting. I guess I’ll try it out tomorrow after updating my life insurance. 7 Quote

I think there'd be a pump to pressurize it. 3 Quote

Popular Post wtnhighlander Posted April 4, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 4, 2025 I think that T-handle out the top is the pump, and the knob on the back is flow control. Torch, I'm sure. Works like a Coleman camp lantern or stove. 4 Quote

When I was a kid on the farm we had one just like it. Please, don't try to use that thing for anything other than decorative. We lit ours one day and we let the preheat flame burn too long & the thing exploded. I was far away enough not to get burned, but the shock wave put me flat on the ground 5 Quote
Popular Post Coop Posted April 4, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 4, 2025 Stamped into the canister is Clayton & Lambert Mfg.. Googling them, I found several on eBay advertised as a blow torch and the label on the side says to” Please don’t use gasoline with lead in it”. And yes there is a pump on the back and no, it will never taste gasoline in my lifetime! 2 5 Quote
Popular Post Von Posted April 11, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 11, 2025 A couple tools I've gotten off of Ebay over the last week to deal with measuring challenges I've run into recently. One a clear winner, the other is... TBD. This little depth gauge has been a great addition. Nice, easy, quick to use for capturing all sorts of small measurements and gets into small places. Should have bought one years ago. BTW, the name etched on it is Jack Ferre. On the TBD front, I need a way to do inside measurements. I'm planning on building some pinch sticks. Saw this inside micrometer and impulse bought as a possible solution. It's kinda cool and it will definitely measure the inside of things, but it's far from easy and quick - it has an inch of range and it takes 40 turns to cover that inch. Don't think I'll ever need that level of precision. Will keep it around and see if it's useful, but I'm still planning on building some pinch sticks. 7 Quote

Closest I come is drag out the welder once or twice a year. I could really get into trouble if I had a shop big enough for metalworking tools. 2 Quote

Popular Post Tom King Posted April 21, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted April 21, 2025 Not woodworking related and not in the mail, but I scan FB marketplace most days. This morning a Hobie kayak showed up for 550. I checked current price on a new one and it's 1850 plus tax. Contacted the seller and they were a mile and a half from our house. They were a really nice older couple that obviously were more into taking care of things than using them. They freaked out when I slid it on their perfect asphalt driveway a few inches while I slid it into the back of my truck on top of shovels, pitchforks and tools I use for keeping the beach clean. If it had ever been used once, there is no way to tell. They even have a perfectly like new case to keep the mirage drive in. Pam already has one, but it's impossible for anyone to stay with the pedal drive in another one just with a paddle. 5 Quote
