Tom King Posted November 25, 2025 Report Posted November 25, 2025 That's a really nice one. I told my BIL that was helping me yesterday take a front tire off a tractor that the little wooden seat I took out of the shop to sit on while doing it was my most used and most appreciated tool in the shop. 2 Quote

Popular Post drzaius Posted November 26, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted November 26, 2025 A shop stool was not something even on my radar when my wife got me one for a gift. I use it lots to sit on and sometimes as a turntable (covered of course) when painting small parts with a rattle can. 3 Quote

They are my most important tools. My grandfather was a machinist who made this stool in the 1940's, I'm guessing. Old tractor seat, and large bolts welded in for the feet. Coming up on 90 years old and still solid as a rock. Thank you Grandpa for giving me an example of good work. 8 Quote
Popular Post Von Posted December 2, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 2, 2025 So today I bought an IV stand. Found it at Habitat Restore and I've had the idea of getting if I ever found it for holding cords, hoses, etc. Now that I have my ceiling rails installed I'm not sure it will be as useful as it once was but I decided it was one of those "that might be useful and who knows when it will come around again" things. 7 Quote

That's an interesting idea. I literally pulled one of these out of a closet last week and at first, couldn't remember what the heck it even was. Odd coincidence. 4 Quote

You can use it to hang a Dremel if you have a flexible shaft. I have the original accessory (the "flex-shaft tool holder") and find it very convenient. 5 Quote
Popular Post Coop Posted December 6, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 6, 2025 I bought a set of corner clamps several years ago from Rockler and have never been really satisfied with them and eventually chunked them. I’ll be making several crosses this month for stocking stuffers and need more of a 90* stop more than clamps themselves as I will be using ca glue. I found these on Amazon and figured “ red and anodized”, they’re bound to be halfway ok. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened them! 7 Quote
Popular Post pkinneb Posted December 11, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 11, 2025 This little gem all the way from Canada... I went out to turn some platters for xmas gifts only to realize my NOVA chuck would not mount to the new lathe Apparently its been a while since I've turned a bowl or platter since I've had the new lathe for a couple years. I was pretty bummed especially when I learned the part had been discontinued by Nova! luckily I was able to source one from a small company in Canada who was able to get it to me in three days. Hats off to Woodworkers Specialties!! $33 later I'm back in business... 6 Quote

I'm surprised to hear it's been discontinued?! How could one use their chucks without the right insert? Popular Post Coop Posted December 18, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 18, 2025 We received this today from a long time friends of ours. In it was the best tasting pecan pie ever. Sorry mom! And ironically the name of the restaurant is Goode (pronounced Good) Company Bar-B-Que. 6 Quote

Popular Post Tom King Posted December 18, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 18, 2025 There was a huge Pecan tree at my Grandfather's house (my Dad's side) that always produced a Lot of Pecans and made the best pies. The family ended up selling that place and the tree was blown down in a Hurricane years ago. This year one of our puppy people sent us some "Georgia" Pecans as a Christmas gift and as soon as we tasted them we realized why the pies were always so good. The trouble is there was no mention of the type of Pecans they were, other than Georgia, on the package. I went online and ordered some of every type of Georgia pecan I could find. We're going to have a taste test at our big meal over Christmas. We have a seven acre field up on the highway that hasn't been used for anything for a couple of decades that our county has been bugging me about to get some sort of agricultural or tree planting something going on it for it to stay in the cheap property tax category-commonly called "land use". Once we figure out which are the best tasting Pecans, I'm going to plant that seven acres in Pecan trees. See if they'll tell you the name of the Pecans in those pies. Names like Stuart, Elliot, and Pawnee. I forget the others but have it written down somewhere. 3 Quote

Popular Post wtnhighlander Posted December 18, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 18, 2025 Ever see "Mrs. Sullivan's Pecan Pie" snacks at your local convenience store? Those orginally came from a family bakery in my home town. When I was a kid, we could go to the bakery and purchase the 'seconds', pies with cracked crust, uneven pecans, etc... for about 50¢ per dozen. On an epic family road-trip to the Grand Canyon, we stocked sevral bags of pies to snack on. After two weeks of that, it was a loooong time before I craved any pecan pie! 3 3 Quote

Popular Post Tom King Posted December 19, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 19, 2025 Everyone who ever tasted my Mom's Pecan pies said they were the best they'd ever had. She never understood why because she always said the recipe just came off the Karo syrup bottles. The difference was the Pecans. There is a noticeable difference in the taste of different varieties. We only finally discovered her "secret" by chance getting that gift of Pecans. 3 Quote

Popular Post gee-dub Posted December 24, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 24, 2025 Someone tried to surprise me with a Festool ETS 125/3 random orbit sander. Unfortunately, they were in the backyard playing with their flower bed when the box showed up, so the surprise was spoiled. Doesn’t mean I’ll like it any less. 6 Quote
