mat60
Darn Look at all the fun I missed. This makes me grateful that all I have had to deal with is some bad back problems lately. Hope you heal up fast and your finger doesn't hurt to bad @RichardA.

Popular Post RichardA
I'm coming along guys, because of the location of the cut [on a knuckle] it takes longer to close up because it moves to much, even with a splint on it. But it's getting better. Thanks for all the get wells, you guys be careful around spinning metal stuff.
Mark J
@RichardA so how's the finger doing?
RichardA
Unexpected complications have befallen the friggin finger. Infections are working on the surgery and on the bone , where it was badly cut. There are two ways of thinking to sort this out. #1 massive infusions of antibiotic given IV daily for six weeks. #2 Amputate. Personally , I prefer #1, but my insurance companies may balk at the expense. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for asking. 1
TerryMcK
Difficult decision to make. I hope the insurance pay for the antibiotics.
wtnhighlander
I wish you luck, Rick. Stinks that keeping or losing a body part has to come down to finances.

I didn't mean to "like" the trouble you're having. I sincerely hope you can beat the infection!
ClassAct
Oh man, that's a tough path to tread. Sending positive karma your way and hoping the antibiotics knock that sucker out.

wdwerker
I hope the antibiotics work. Be careful with all the restrictions, I've heard that side affects can be serious from strong antibiotics . You know we are pulling for you. wtnhighlander
Prayers and well-wishes continue, Rick! Funny finger story - my paternal grandfather, once a professional photographer, liked to tinker with wood and metal in his later years. Bought his first (only?) tablesaw when he was nearly 70, and promptly lopped off his left index finger. Was his first reaction to ice it down, and rush to the ER? Nope. First thing he did was grab his camera and snap a few pics to share with family & friends. There be true redneck blood in my veins! PS - if things happen to not go so well for you, it is perfectly ok to keep any photos to yourself....

Ross, When it happened, I finished the cut, turned off the saw, went to the bench, picked up the phone/intercom and asked my wife if she'd do me a favor. She said what/ I said, while I lock up the shop, would you call our regular doctor, and tell him I'm coming in with a real bad cut., she is an ex police officer and she said can you drive, I said no, you better. Okay she said. By the time I got to the house, she was coming out and off we went. She didn't see the wound, as I'd grabbed a clean rag and wrapped my hand as I was leaving the shop. And she refused to leave the room when my Doc got his first look. My wife is a born and bred Tennessee redneck, and not much disturbs her. Oh, my Doc is a woodworker, because of me.
