Gixxerjoe04
Can't wait to see the finished product, how many bf are in one chair? Was looking at the canadian woodworker(guy on IG) and he has plans for a bunch of chairs like that as well as other stuff. Thought about buying the plans and trying to add onto it to make a fancy high chair for my son haha.

If I were to try that for my son, I MIGHT be finished in time for my son's kid to actually use it...
Popular Post shaneymack
Spent 4.5 hours in the shop and don't have a lot to show for it. Probably 3 hours of those was spent on the wood playing with the templates to get the parts just right. To me, this is the most important part of this kind of build. The rear legs were really hard to figure out because the curve is quite drastic and I didn't want to end up with a weak cross grain situation. I made a little video to show the parts all laid out. There is a ton of waste. Id say like 40%....oh well. Id rather waste than not be happy with the final product. Ive already swallowed the fact that these two chairs cost me 1500$ in bubinga. A couple stills The seat material. It will all be straight grain just like the honduran mahogany rocker I did. I want the glue joints to be a invisible as possible in the seat. I rough cut the parts to length with the jigsaw. Pretty sure I shortened its life significantly cutting this stuff. Lol. All my seat material rough milled Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Denette
Sweet project! I've never done anything sculpted beyond freeform bandsaw boxes and rounding over some edges on corners after they've glued up. Looking forward to seeing someone go for it!

Chet
I got to think that it is actually kind of enjoyable working at the layout with all that interesting grain to work with.
shaneymack
I final milled the seat stock tonight. I put the Freud heavy duty rip blade (24 tooth) on to rip the 8/4 bubinga. For those that don't think there is a benefit to using dedicated rip/crosscut blades check this out. ( i was surprised to see in the video that I forgot to set my blade to proper height...oops) No combo blade in the world could do that.... Got the seat boards oriented. Im really happy with the grain match. Here are a few pics with mineral spirits. Too bad you didn't do a quick cut with a combo to show the difference Lol that's a good point. I guess i figured most people on here would know how well that blade is cutting considering 8/4 bubinga is like cutting concrete.
