Popular Post Coop
I started to ride the neighbor’s kid’s skateboard the other day and decided not to for the same reason. I’m no taller now than when I was 18 yo but the ground seems a lot further away and harder!

Since I was replacing the tie rods and didn't care about damaging the old ones, I used a three pound hammer to hit the rod end bolt right on the end of the bolt. They came right out. I have needed to use a fork on tractor tie rods. I bolted on the aluminum angles to set the toe in by, but measuring the tie rods that I took out with a framing square from the big inboard end to the center of the grease fitting, eyeballing it parallel to the threaded rod on the tie rod, and putting the new ones in with the same measuring method, I didn't have to touch any toe in adjustment. Popular Post legenddc
I love watching YouTube before a repair just to figure out what size tools are needed. If I’m feeling lucky I’ll only bring out those sizes.
Tom King
Normally, I do that too. Thinking that this was such a simple job, I didn't do any planning ahead. The tie rods in it were slightly larger than stock. The newest ones were a Lot larger than stock. The outer end nuts had to be the same, but all the inboard ends were larger and larger than stock anyway. It had been long enough ago when I put the last ones in that I not only forgot what size they were, but whether they were SAE or Metric. As it turned out, I couldn't get enough leverage to break them loose anyway, so ended up using a pipe wrench pushed on with my foot. For the second side I used the pipe wrench to start with, and broke the outer ends loose from the outside. The new ones went right in after adjusting them for length to match the old ones.

Yeah i hear that my Jeep has a solid front axel. Last night i was driving back from the airport and the wind was variable. Your Jeep has a 44" longer wheelbase than my 1998 Wrangler. Wind was always a fun time. I need to go test drive a Gladiator to see how it compares to my old Jeep. Popular Post gee-dub
My daughter was out riding this morning and one of her horses decided to get an attitude when a car drove by while crossing one of the common areas. Her horses are trained for proximity to vehicles, livestock, etc. but sometimes get lazy or rebellious. She got a time out.

My cousin came to borrow a pole saw and i told him he should give the saw a run. I told him "its not every day you get to run a 90cc chain saw." He we shocked at the displacement and responded "my first dirt bike was only 50cc and it was a blast." Here is a video and some pictures i took. Thanks a lot for that video! The long wheel base and better suspension is huge.
Popular Post legenddc
Spent a decent portion of Saturday in the shop. Had a few issues with tools and a couple interruptions so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped to. I did get a couple of shelves milled and glued up. Also looked at some scrap and put together a cutting board blank. Will eventually go to my father in law. Ran it through the planer last night since my son was asleep. My wife was upstairs in my daughter's room and said it was really loud. Guess the milling will be kept to weekend days.
Popular Post legenddc
Cleaned the planer rollers, switched the blades and waxed the table. I guess after 4 years the blades dulled and that was causing my issues of it really slowing down on some boards. Got the cutting board to final thickness. Now it will sit for a while until I go to my parent's and use my dad's juice groove jig.
Popular Post gee-dub
It's filter day. I regularly go through and check (and change if required) all my house and shop HVAC filters. Air scrubber filters, compressor intake, and shop vac filters. Takes only about 30 minutes for everything. Routine maintenance is the key to preventing future problems
Popular Post pkinneb
Not much time for woodworking during tax season but was able to get out with one of the guys from our chair group and split some oak logs from my property. should be some spindles in there
Popular Post gee-dub
Took a moment to clean up Grandpa's "new" pocket rule that I carry in my apron. It was getting a little grungy. Shown here with his "old" one that it replaced after he had given it "some use". I keep the old one as a decorative item in the shop because it makes me smile. The "new" one has the cool 32nds scale on each end for height setting. My kids have no interest in the trades or woodworking . . . maybe the grandkids will make use of some of my stuff. It would be nice for someone to get some joy the way that I do out of using tools with a history. You can lead a horse to water . . .
Popular Post Tom King
Good timing to split those logs while it's still cold up there. I spent all day picking up sticks, downed limbs, and fallen trees. The grass has started growing here, and I wanted to clean it all up so I could start cutting the grass before it gets too tall. I didn't even go in the house where that shower I've been working on is. I had to put on shorts after lunch. I was starting to sweat too much with long pants and a t-shirt on. We got a little unexpected rain last night, which I was glad to get for the grass, but it made me decide to not put off cleaning things up.
Popular Post JohnG
Cleared all of the junk off my tools and coated my cast iron surfaces Now I just need to move all the stuff that is around and between my tools! House projects really clutter up my shop. Also installed a drill press table I picked up on sale. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

And I guess the fence will go all the way to the right side of the router table? That’s sweet!
JohnG
Hey @Coop it’s the 36” rip SS, but with the right side router table there is about 46” of cast iron from the blade to the edge. The pic might make it look longer, but I think the TS capacity is still around 36” on the right side, but maybe a bit more than without the RT. The SS RT came with another fence that has dust collection in the center, you can see the slots for it, but you also could use the TS fence for the RT. I keep the RT fence connected to a hose and sitting on a little box just to the side of the table (to the right in the pic above). That keeps the surface clear but easy to pop it on and open the RT blast gate when I use the RT. The one blast gate opens up both the fence DC and the under table DC.
Popular Post legenddc
Our week of high 60's even up to low 70s is over. Kids had a blast playing outside every night after school. Outside of the one day it rained, they didn't watch any TV after school. Even managed to eat dinner out on the deck twice. I restored my headlights one evening while the kids were rolling around outside. My wife and I went on a brewery tour in DC on Saturday while my sister/brother in law watched the kids. Yesterday I went over to my parent's house to install a new track light in my dad's office and switched an old dimmer switch for a regular light switch so the LED bulbs stop flickering. Brought my dad's cutting board juice groove jig over and got it cut in one board. Need to do another and will spend some time standing.
