Mark J
Paul I'm saddened to hear of your father's passing. That is never easy no matter the circumstances. Sorry I've fallen behind in my forum-ing, but the hallo on the lid came out great. (In fact birdseye radiating out might actually looked a bit more like brimstone). The grain match on the sides is simply excellent.

Popular Post pkinneb
Glue up went well Next up was to cut for some keys Then glued them in and trimmed them at the BS Then I fit the bottom that will screw in for access. That'll work And finally glued in the attachment points for the bottom before starting the finishing process. Last step will be to rub out the finish and take a couple beauty shots later this week.
treeslayer
Really coming out very nice Paul, what a great final resting place for your dad, he would be proud. Quick question, the auxiliary fence that’s over your factory rip fence, how is it held in place ? I’d like to make one, seems like it would come in handy, thanks in advance.

It's Bob Van Dyke's design and uses toggle clamps works awesome 1

Popular Post pkinneb
Attached the bottom tonight and took some final beauty shots. Wish I would have had more time to play with some additional inlay strips recommended by Scott Grove but can't risk mucking this one up so I will probably make another similar one to try that on. That's a wrap! Thanks for following along

Popular Post RichardA
Outstanding! It made me think of a song. "Ain't no sunshine since you've gone". But you brought it back with a beautiful design and finish. Good on ya! 2

Popular Post pkinneb
Well I never thought I would be making another one of these so soon but within a month I lost my father and a man I viewed as a second father...been a tough couple months. This one is a bit taller but otherwise the same. I think the top came out a bit better and I also learned from the first that I should tape the edges before I cut the keys, it worked and I ended up with virtually no tearout. 3

RichardA
It really sucks, that as you age, you tend to lose those that are important to you. Sorry you had to go through that again so soon. Extremely well done.
Chet
Paul, Sorry to hear about you second loss in such a short period. The second box looks just as outstanding as the first.
