Are 2x6 studs required due to the span with no interior load bearing walls?

No, that was an upgrade. It breaks 100* regularly in summer and I wanted the insulating factor.  I'll be running a couple of mini-splits.  I also just felt better about the 2x6 walls.  There are 100 year old buildings in Cali that wouldn't make it through one Nebraska winter.  2x4 is standard.

As you get older, that 50’ can quickly become 500’! That’s the reason you put in a backdoor. ;)

I've had that experience, and my shop is only 121' from the house.  Yuck, laundry time.

Forget all that running to the house, if nature calls, nature is getting a sprinkle of tinkle.  If is good enough for the animals, it’s good enough for me.

Tinkle was not the problem!  And I didn't feel like a bear at that moment.

Normally, there's plenty of warning. That time I had a one second warning. It was kinda crappy.
