ChrisG-Canada
What is your preferred shoe/boot option for wearing in your shop (and what kind of shop floor do you have)? My shop used to be a garage so I have a concrete floor. I also have a few anti-fatigue mats I got from Grizzly (which I like and definitely notice the difference).I've been wearing a pair of older running shoes (good quality New Balance shoes) but at the end of the day my feet are hurting quite a bit so I'm hoping to learn from your experiences before I go buy new footwear. I know I could buy 'work boot/shoes' but I don't find most of them very comfortable and I don't like the extra weight.i should mention that I'm not the slimmest guy you'll ever meet so that may be a bit of an issue as well. ..Kev
Sounds to me like your shoes are worn out. I wear tennis shoes most of the time in the shop. My feet do get tired at the end of a long day in the shop.
Southwood
I generally wear a pair of lace up Redwing boots. Not steel toe, but leather. They are just comfortable but can be warm in the summer.
wtnhighlander
Cross-trainer style shoes on concrete, but I rarely spend a whole day in the shop.
mat60
I where just work boots but the wife just bought me some decent ruining shoes and I hope my feet like them better on concrete every day..I think the mats would help me also..I would get some comfortable shoes as said.. Keggers
My shop floors are concrete as well. I wear steel toe lace up work boots all the time.
Eric.
Flip flops. Always flip flops, summer or winter. I wear socks with my flip flops if I'm turning because who wants that crap between your toes? Sometimes I wear Crocs, but you can't shake out the shavings like you can with flip flops. Brendon_t
I'll be the first one to get in trouble. . I never wear shoes in or around my house, shop included. I have really high arches and had to train my feet as a kid to not hurt without support. I don't really care for wearing shoes so I just don't. It also forces me to keep the floor clean. Too many times I've walked by the band saw and caught a sharp wedge in the foot. Time to sweep.
Coop
My shoes come off as soon as I get home from work and don't get put back on unless I have to go somewhere that requires them, and the shop is not one of them. And like Brendon, splinters and such are just part of it.

woodbutcher74
I wear Merrell Jungle Moc's. The most comfortable shoes I ever worn. Easy to slip on and off when I come back in the house. They wear like iron.

ColinF
In the summer I wear tennis shoes, in the cooler months I wear Rocky work boots, they are much more comfortable than tennis shoes, and the they are insulated, my feet get cold easy. Mick S
Keen leather shoes with Thorlo socks. Until I tried a pair of Thorlos, I had no idea how much difference good socks could make.
RichardA
Flip flops, since I have to walk across a gravel driveway to get to the shop... And horse stall mats from Tractor Supply on the floor!
Strasberry
My floors are 3' deep in shavings and sawdust, so it doesn't matter what I wear! It is always cushy on the feet!
Cliff
I wear the same shoes I wear in daily life, which is either a pair of Keen waterproof shoes or Brooks Beast running shoes. Not a runner, but I buy pretty expensive shoes so that my plantar fasciitis doesn't get too bad.

ColinF
It toughens your feet up to enable you to hunt quail in South Texas without shoesI already knew you were crazy! I've seen the occasional chisel or brad point drill bit roll off the bench enough to know I need shoes on! Don't y'all have giant instant death snakes down there? Seems walking around barefoot is a bad idea, but that's just my opinion for what it's worth...
Coop
It's a budget thing. One pair of shoes a year! With eleven kids and a wife, that's 13 pair!
