Coop
Ok, still playing the DA roll. Dry well here means no oil. Why would you want one? Here, to collect water, we have retention ponds. Not a hole, but a friggin 1/4 acre hole in the ground, connected via 4' drain to run it off. So it's like a French drain or something? Sorry op for the diversion. Sorry op for the diversion. Coop, it's like a dry well and a French drain had an ugly, expensive baby and then decided to bury it. I believe there are multiple ways to do it - here's what went in behind the shop: The black plastic things are called cultec chambers - there's six of them in there - each one is ~4' x 8' and holds 318 gallons. The installation is sized to take the storm water from the roof of the shop in some theoretical massive storm. We had engineers out digging test holes to calculate how well the ground can absorb water - it was a surprising amount of work. (and I'm the op so no need to apologize for side-tracking!) Lost 3 of them (one to a raccoon, two to hawks) before I built that coop. So we have one lonely paranoid chicken left. But I believe we're getting more this year. It's a really neat hobby - my wife ordered them online. They hatch on a Monday, the put them in the mail on Tuesday and Wednesday the post office calls and says "Mrs K, there's a package here that's peeing for you." Popular Post -MattK-
I'm making slow progress figuring out the new electrician but I do have the panel and an outlet out there, so I got the MFT and TS75 going out there today to cut and install some blocking to mount the internal portion of the HVAC system (a mini split - happy to discuss this more if people are interested). I also installed LED rope lights in the cupola today. There's more nerdery behind this that I'll get to below.* Net-net, itt was not fun being on a 14' ladder and I'm glad it's over! It's also my 40th birthday today - my sister got me this really cool sign for the shop: No apostrophe - I think I'll use a cut nail for that. My wife had a few small gifts for me today and then said "and we're getting you a bandsaw?" I ignored the question mark at the end of her sentence and I'm interpreting that as approval for the PM1500. A new drill press might show up with it - who knows! There are a lot of boxes moving around out there, it's really hard to keep track of everything. [* ok for the nerdery... this is for @estesbubba... I put in color changing LEDs (inspired by the lights you put in your shop's porch area). But these are Philips Hue lights which you can control through the internet... and you can control them conditionally through a service called IFTTT.com. The kids and I are still working out what we want the conditions to be - we'll probably base it on the weather forecast for the next day. Yes I'm going stir crazy and need to get back to work!]

Woodenskye
Happy Birthday! I guess the apostrophe would have broken the bank. Your wife is something else, she let's you build the dream shop and then buys tools to fill it. Keeper that girl is.
