Popular Post estesbubba
Bought some Tried and True original linseed oil and beeswax finish a few months ago after seeing it on Eric's boxes and finally tried it on some test boards tonight. In a 60 degree shop it is thicker than honey and after putting some in a cup and putting on hot water it was like warm syrup. It says to put it on as thin as you can and it takes some effort to apply it because of its thickness. After over an hour I wiped with a lint free cloth and its silky smooth with just a hint of sheen. They say to buff with steel wool after a few days which I'll do. I think this will be a nice finish for smaller projects that don't need a lot of protection but no way I would apply this to anything with much size because it is slow to apply. The good news is a quart will last a long time because of the high solids content.
RichardA
Would you have noticed that a year or two ago? See what happens when you get addicted to wood........ you notice everything that's related.
Tpt life
Uh 1 hour ago, Lester Burnham said: Those booths appear to be having some kind of strange gravitational effect on that table. Good thing we weren't seated there, we'd never be able to leave. The black stand pipe bypasses the apron and only catches the top. That's a dumb support design. RichardA
You mean, you never noticed anything like it.... See what working with wood does to you.
Popular Post wtnhighlander
Not a chance. When we sat down, I immediately felt under the table to see how they attached the tops to the apron. They just drove long staples through the top. Every table was warped. The table tops were all jacked up too. I don't know if it was just really thick poly or epoxy, I've haven't used epoxy yet, but it was all bubbled and cracked. A few places chipped away. I've never seen anything like it. Sounds like a commercial opportunity to me, Iceman! Go back and complain about the soup flowing off into your lap, and leave a card with the suggestion that you could build them some proper dining tables. Might finance a nice shop upgrade!

Popular Post estesbubba
There's been a pair of barred owls around our property since we moved to it 8 years ago. We hear them all the time especially after dark but every once in a while you'll see one when it's light out. This afternoon I was walking down to my shop and one was in a tree and stuck around until I grabbed my camera.

Popular Post Coop
Pics of 2 of the 3 and the base. Still some work to go and the finish will be added when Santa delivers the Mini-Mite. And the top. I thought if I added a coat of finish, it would help mitigate warpage . Finished product will be slipped in here sometime next year! Roll Credits: Chet and Marc
