Eric.
Yikes! Hope you stay high and dry, Shane. What a bummer. St. Louis experienced record flooding last week, too...must be something about "St. Louis." Best of luck man.

Chet
Wow Shane - I hope things get better. I can't imagine having to muck out my house and trying to salvage family valuables. Take care and stay safe.
shaneymack
Wow Shane - I hope things get better. I can't imagine having to muck out my house and trying to salvage family valuables. Take care and stay safe. So far so good. The basement is a crawlspace. My well pump and water filtration stuff is down there. I was sure my sump pump was going to burn out so setup a secondary 2" electric pump with a float. The sump pump stopped working the next day! So glad I did that. Half of my house is slab on grade so that was the part we sandbagged. We emptied everything out of that side of the house so worst case scenario i would have just had some basic repairs. My buddy went to check on it today and there isnt a drop of water in there either ! We are pretty happy. My shop is alright also. Had some water on the floor in there but thats ok. Immortan D
Dang man, that sucks! Thanks God everyone is OK and no damage of importance to your house. Consider putting this project on hold, build a boat first!
bgreenb
Ugh, Shane that's awful. Sorry to hear it. Only thing worse than having to evacuate your house because of a flood is having to pack into a house where everyone has soupy poopy. Hope that water drains out soon and we can get back to grandfather clock building.
Popular Post shaneymack
Wow, it's been a month since an update! Feels like a week. So after, the dog dying, neighbourhood flooding and mad rushing to find a new house, things are kinda back on track. We are getting our new house on July 22 so I need to haul some ace on this clock. I need to have the clock done and my whole shop packed up in the next 6 weeks. Its going to be tough with all the craziness that comes with moving 6 people and a dog. We are even moving the wifes horse to another barn which will be closer to our new house. It's going to be an exciting summer !! I will probably do a thread on setting up the new shop. Anyways, I got very little done since last update. I repaired the tiny notches i accidently cut into the through tenons. Before assembly, it was time to cut the mortises on the front of the clock for these bad boys Marked it out with marking knife then routed close to the line. Then finished up with a chisel. With that done it was time for the first glue up of the project! So exciting All the panels on this thing will be solid bookmatched qswo. I milled up all the panel stock and got to resawing. Typical setup Like usual, blown away by the incredibleness of the Laguna bandsaw/resaw king blade tag team. Does such an awesome job I now have a crap load of resawn panels to glue up and final dimension. Hopefully i will have a more regular updates on this in the coming weeks ! Chet
Nice work as usually Shane. How big is the new shop going to be?
shaneymack
Nice work as usually Shane. How big is the new shop going to be? Thanks, Chet. New shop is nothing special, 400 sq ft standard 2 car garage. It's a hair more than i have now. The house is absolutely perfect for us so I compromised on the shop a bit. Woodenskye
Congrats on the new house Shane! The clock is looking good! Hopefully you get it done before the move and presented so you don't have to move it twice.

Hopefully you get it done before the move and presented so you don't have to move it twice. Thanks, Bryan. Unfortunately, I will have to move it twice because my dads birthday is only in September. I want to get it done before I move because im not sure I will have the shop fully up and running again before his bday. I'm just playing it safe. wdwerker
At Brusso's prices they should come wrapped in paper and boxed. Plastic bag ? For shame !
