Popular Post legenddc Posted June 8, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 8, 2024 I got Here. It was $21 after the coupon so you might want to wait a bit. I’d rather just order non-urgent bolts or nuts than rifle through Home Depot only to find they don’t have what I need where I need it. 4 Quote

Tom King Posted June 8, 2024 Report Posted June 8, 2024 That's the cheapest CBN wheel I've ever seen. I hope it gives good service. 1 Quote

For what it's worth, the others sold by that seller were all in the $130-150 range. I don't know why this one was discounted, but i figured I'd give it a shot. I'll report back after the maiden voyage. 1 Quote
Coop Posted June 9, 2024 Report Posted June 9, 2024 What is a CBN wheel? Besides the obvious. 1 Quote
Mark J Posted June 9, 2024 Report Posted June 9, 2024 @Coop, the abrasive is cubic boron nitride. It is harder than aluminum oxide, and is very, very long wearing. So the wheels don't decrease in diameter as they're used. It is good for sharpening high speed steel tools, like wood turning gouges, but I've heard it can get clogged up when used on high carbon steel, like bench chisels and plane blades. 2 Quote

I reground the primary bevel on an old beater chisel to test it out. No complaints. 3 Quote
Popular Post pkinneb Posted June 11, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 11, 2024 Tenon cutter I purchased in December showed up last week this will be nice in my chair builds. Also picked these up at a recent Mid-West Tool Collectors Association show. More chair tools; a couple of brace's, cobblers hammer for wedges, and a draw knife I can use on the outer bark to save my newer ones from damage from things like dirt, nails, etc. 7 Quote
Mark J Posted June 11, 2024 Report Posted June 11, 2024 Until I saw "chair" I didn't know what kind or tenon you could be making. I'm assuming it makes one size of tenon, or is there some kind of adjustment? Quote
Tpt life Posted June 11, 2024 Report Posted June 11, 2024 Most modern chair designs use tapered tenons. Quote

Correct its a tapered tenon cutter (6 degree) 5/8" to 15/16" 2 Quote

Popular Post Ronn W Posted June 15, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 15, 2024 Got a replacemnt sppeed controller for my Triton router. Had to make a few emails and phone calls to fine one for 120V. Seems that the company is concentrating on 240V for European market. 4 Quote
Mark J Posted June 16, 2024 Report Posted June 16, 2024 @Ronn W, did you get it from Triton, or did you have to find your own? Quote
Popular Post Ronn W Posted June 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 16, 2024 I ended up placing a call to Toolstream.com. The place for spare parts (Tool spares online) told me via email that they no longer carried the 120V version of this part. But Toolstream told me that Tool spares was only out of stock temporarily. Go figure. Toolstream was happy to send me the part. 4 Quote

Popular Post gee-dub Posted June 25, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted June 25, 2024 I'm a Felix the Cat man myself. With a lot of get togethers and grandkid visits lately things tend to get messy in the yard sheds. I'm trying to do a little organizing each morning before the heat hits. It really peeves me when items are laying in the aisles and I can't get to what I want without having to move something I don't. ***NOTE*** I just noticed I put this in the “what came in the mail today“ thread and not the “what did you do today“ thread…doh! 6 Quote
Popular Post legenddc Posted July 22, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 22, 2024 My order from Harry J Epstein came in. Part of the sale they had going on at GarageJournal. The rules were half off so I might have ordered a couple I didn’t really need. 4 1 Quote
Popular Post Ron Swanson Jr. Posted July 26, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 26, 2024 A new set of feeler gauges. I wanted this set because it comes with one that is under 1/1000 at .0007. I did NOT, however, realize that these were 12" long. I gotta start reading descriptions more carefully and not just going by the pictures. Oh well. 5 1 Quote
gee-dub Posted July 27, 2024 Report Posted July 27, 2024 Long feelers are nice to have but can become quite delicate at that length. I have some 6" that have served me well. 1 Quote

Popular Post Beechwood Chip Posted August 7, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted August 7, 2024 I wanted an smaller, inexpensive shop vac for my drill press and oscillating spindle/belt sander, so I bought this one. I was a bit nervous because I was not familiar with the brand. [edit] I couldn't find a smaller / cheaper one with a 2.5" hose [/edit] I am really happy with the purchase. It's almost too powerful! This thing really sucks! 6 1 Quote
