pkinneb
I saw this in an email sale add today and I find it hard to believe anyone would think this is a good idea much less sell it for this purpose. I mean to each his own but seriously???
Mark J
I totally don't understand the purpose of that holder.

Chestnut
That picture leaves me a lot of questions and has a high cringe factor.... at what point is this an improvement over a miter gauge?
Immortan D
Looks like more 3D printed crap.
BillyJack
Sure it's not in the slot?
drzaius
It's a good thing he has a SawStop, because he will need it. Imagine how the blade rotation will try to suck the board, holder and that doofus's hand into the blade.
pkinneb
Upon closer inspection it does have a bar riding on the fence I missed that in the first pic. Still not something I would use and dang sure not on a SS but again to each their own https://www.infinitytools.com/small-workpiece-holder?utm_source=remarkety&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Wed 12%2F9&utm_content=&_rmId=ZobNddwOZ8fqQpAngbdWIMK9po27PvFWDM0qd85WI0Bp1 On a positive note its on sale. BillyJack
Do you have to provide pressure against the fence to keep it on track? The way it looks like it operates it fails to be safe.. it relies on the user to keep it in check
Coop
I don’t think it’s as bad as it looks. @VizslaDad‘s pic shows the second push handle and I think @BillyJackis probably correct in that it probably rides in the miter bar slot. And with the clamping device, you don’t have to hold the board against the miter bar. But yeah, why reinvent the wheel.

wtnhighlander
Isn't that what sleds are for? Although the websites pics illustrate a more reasonable use case at the router table.
BillyJack
Many will buy it. Nobody invents things without sales figures in. It only needs to be bright and marketed..
Tpt life
Spin it around and put it on the other side (assuming t-slot hold down) and it is the Osborne miter gauge very nearly.
BillyJack
This ended up in a employee's chest 15 minutes after it was pulled from the box. Some woodworker in the office thought it would be a great ideal.
Coop
I think it’s a good idea but mine came with instructions.

Pretty sure that's to hold small pieces on a Router table. Not sure why they're using it on a TS Edit: Didn't notice angles so maybe not. BillyJack
We just use a block with handle and sandpaper to get a grip on small items on a open router You would be surprised at some of the jigs around a cabinet shop. Minnesota Steve
What does this do that a miter gauge can't?

Just answering your question. Yeah, but the fence isn't being used to cut a piece to a particular length. So there's really no need for the fence. All it seems to be doing is cutting it at an angle. I'm just totally confused.
