Ronn W
@ treeslayer mentioned hobbies in another post so "Why not? What other intersts do you have now or have had I the past?? No need to limit the topic to just "hobbies" In chronological order I have been very involved over the years in: Recrerational softball (lost my swing and could not hit a thing), long distance bicycling (knees started to hurt), competitive table tennis (rotator cuff went bad), dog agility (dogs got too old), wood working (a work in progress but it doesn't bother my knees or shoulder), Maintaining lionel trains that I gave to my grandson - there's always something to fix. How about you?
Popular Post pkinneb
For me it would be woodworking. My wife and I are both into movies, cars, and travel. I have also dabbled in stain glass and did some high altitude climbing for about 7 years. She prefers sunny and warm, Bahama's But we have also traveled extensively in the US, I have been in all 50 states and all but one Canadian province This was in Ontario I believe two summers ago on a Miata trip with friends. This is in Virginia, not a huge horse fan but sometimes you gotta do what she wants to do Our current selection of cars Mine 2003 after market turbo charger 240 HP to the rear wheels and a whole lotta fun Hers is a 2018 pretty much stock And my 2015 Canyon on the way back from the wooden boat school in Miane. I even got her to hike a couple high points over the years, you can see she was thrilled LOL Finally me on the top of Kilimanjaro and working our way up Denali

Chet
I used to do a lot of rock climbing and backpacking including a handful of 13 and 14 thousand foot summits, then like Ronn the knees said they have had it. I also did winter camping and snow shoeing with my younger daughter, my older daughter and wife don't like it when it drops below 65°. We do a lot of camping and hiking mainly in the spring and fall to avoid the crowds. Since we both retired we have done a lot of other traveling and taking the train is one of our favorite ways to get there, where ever there may be.
wtnhighlander
For many years, I practiced power lifting (not competitively) as therapy for a back injury. Joint issues have reduced that to light weight calesthenics, these days. Dabbled at guitar for a while, really started too late to overcome the reduced dexterity in my hands. Aside from a bit of woodworking, I also write short fiction based on various "adventures" in my life. Nothing published, just for fun and family entertainment.

Popular Post Coop
I participate in full contact jousting, am a formula 1 driver and also train attack dogs for the military. From all of y’all’s hobbies above, gardening and raising tomatoes just sounded too mundane! 3

No excuse, I have a bad case of engineering brain, myself. Dramatizing little events from your own life isn't too hard, you should try it. Write "scenes" instead of stories, you can find ways to match them up and fill the gaps afterward.

Popular Post Coop
Exacting but not exciting! Exciting would be to discover the warm foot next to yours in bed is not your other foot! 1

Chestnut
In the past I was a computer and video game nerd, then Photography, cars and tinkering has always been something I enjoy as well. I also like to garden and in general just be outside. @Coop Gardening is a legitimate hobby, you should see the gardens my parents and Grandmother maintain. I hope i get a good tomato crop this year. I should try harder at it. I'm also thinking about not growing bell peppers. It seems like I spend $5 on a plant to get 1 bell which is 3-4x more than the grocery store.
Popular Post legenddc
For me it's just fixing/improving the house and fixing a car when it breaks. Outside of that and woodworking, my main 'hobby' is chasing 2 little kids and cleaning up after then. I used to be interested in photography but never went off the deep end there. Would like to do some more of that and learning to cook better. Hopefully we'll enjoy some more hikes with the kids now that its getting warmer.

Being the bait in an attack dog school, doesn't mean you train them, it simply means you can't run fast.
Immortan D
Every single day I spend 10 to 15 minutes either solving chess puzzles or playing sudoku. Been doing that for the past 20 years. I have other occasional hobbies (woodworking, fishing, photography, etc), money pits all of them. They come and go.

Popular Post curlyoak
Besides woodworking I am an orchid collector and grower. I have around 200 plants. There is always something in bloom. Some people think I do the impossible. I let them think that but the truth is orchids are very easy. Just much different than all other plants. For one they are mostly air plants. Each species group have their own rules but it is not demanding. No row to how. No getting on your hands and knees. When invited for diner I bring a cut flower. That keeps the invitations coming. Orchids make a statement. And a couple of years ago Florida allows medical marijuana. So when i am done in the shop I light up. Far better than the oxycodone prescribed for me. My skeleton has issues that caused me to have several surgeries. The legal weed is a blessing. It will not disease me or kill me. It puts a grin on my face. Cant drink anymore either. Acid reflux. Weed is a healthier replacement and works for me.
Coop
@curlyoak, before my wife retired, one of her supervisors gave her a beautiful orchid plant. She said he had several in his office and showed her pics of their collection at home. Two months after she brought it home, it was a brown stem in a vase. When she wants new plants, I take her to the RIP section at HD for 90% off as they’re gonna be goners anyway!
Popular Post Jonathan McCully
Outside of woodworking, I try to only add activities to my life that allow me to connect with my wife and kids or others. So, to that end, we do as much hiking as we can as well as visiting national park service sites. There are over 400 of them in the country and we are determined to visit them all. I am also a big board gamer, a hobby which exploded for me during the past year. I have close to 100 board games in my collection now. Hoping to get my kids into the shop more as they get older too. 5

They grow VERY slow and never need to be watered. 1
