gee-dub
A fun build for an out of town friend between projects. Maple and padouk with mineral oil.

wdwerker
Beautiful work ! I can imagine the hours of sanding involved .
davewyo
Yep, gorgeous cutting board. That thing will give you vertigo if you stare too long!
treeslayer
nice work gee-dub, care to share some details on how it was made?

pkinneb
Very cool!! Do you use an edge guide and free hand the drip edge on top?
wtnhighlander
That's pretty slick, gee-dub! I'd be interested in some construction pointers on that as well.

I don't have any build pics on this one. Essentially it is a standard cutting board build but, with varying widths of strips arranged in a graduating pattern. I do have some build pics for this . . . but you could just watch the video here ;-)

Although one is guided by an edge guide and one is guided by a bearing or collar I feel more confident with the bearing or collar. Not sure why . . . ..Kev
There's lots of youtube videos out there to build these. As most of you know, I've built quite a few myself although my method is a little different. In the end, they're not difficult and are always received well. I have not done one yet but was thinking template as well.

Chestnut
Nice boards, the illusion one makes me dizzy. That makes those seem a lot easier to make though still not super easy. I find it a few times that learning how something is made demystifies it and ruins part of the charm. It's like learning how a magic trick is done. I still haven't made a cutting board though, gonna see how long that can last.
bleedinblue
That's awesome, one of these days I'm going to give one of those a shot. I dread the sanding of end grain boards though, the last time I made one I burned up my belt sander.

Cliff
I can't imagine trying to flatten something with ROS. My sanding skills are clearly not up to par because all I seem to do is take things out of flat.
