Mark J
Looks reminiscent of a wooden bridge so call it Madison County style (to heck with the Hamptons). Or if it is a really profitable commission name it after the client. But really they look like trestle tables with cross bracing.
Coop
I don’t remember if I got this pic from a build on here or just a random pic on the net. Anyone own up to it. I’d like to get some deminsions but not critical. Thanks

Coop
I agree and I built it. Maybe the reason I’m attracted to it. It looks as if it could serve as a liquor cabinet, assuming the pulls directly below the doors are to a shelf?

Coop
I have friends that took their Ford King Ranch into the dealship for an oil change and left with a new Super Duty. I wish I was an impulse buyer. Great acquisition Nut!

I was going to buy one a year and a half ago then my old pickup broke and i decided to get a new one instead of a new planer. That's paid off now and I made some money selling tools and from a couple paid gigs so the sale seems like fate was telling me what to do. Though i can't say i'm not an impulse buyer, just not in this case. I bought a stunning 1911 when i was in college just because i saw it and it looked nice. I had enough in my bank for the gun and some burgers from Mcdonalds. Mcdonalds tastes really good at the range shotting a brand new 1911.

Just deep enough . It's probably because i drilled the hole too close to the end and edge of the bench. The other dog holes are holding up just fine. 11 hours ago, Mark J said: That's... That's... Not supposed to happen. No it's not but this is a good illustration of how much force holdfasts exert. And also where not to put a dog hole.
Chestnut
Couple weeks ago there was a lightning strike in our neighborhood. It was awesome to experience as it was about a block away and i was awake for it. The strike hit a maple tree in the neighborhood. I figured some of you might appreciate the tree. The house does an elaborate Halloween setup every year so They have left the tree and i assume are going to try and incorporate it. It's interesting to note that the strike completely debarked the tree.

Tom King
On one of our backpacking trips, in the Great Smokies, we had spent one night on the East side of a peak. There was a very impressive thunder storm that night. The next morning, as we hiked over that peak, there were large, fresh pieces of trees all over the place. We were glad we didn't keep going before setting up camp the night before.
drzaius
One year we hiked the Crypt Lake trail (highly recommended) in Waterton National Park. The night before there had been a spectacular thunder storm & lightning had hit a tall tree beside the trail. It blew the bark off about half the circumference of the trunk from the ground to about 10' up. The bark was laying in pieces & the naked wood was dripping wet with sap. I figured it was a goner, but a year later we returned & saw that it was alive & well. The wound was dried over & healing quite well. Coop
Does anyone have a decent working knowledge of a reverse mortgage? A good friend that recently passed away had one and her only heir and I, after reading the contract, are bewildered. If so and you don’t mind answering a couple of questions, please pm me. Thanks. wtnhighlander
Drew, there was a large oak tree on a farm near me, struck by lightning two summers ago. Similar to that maple, it looked like someone tried to make toothpicks with dynamite. Theory is the lightning superheats the sap, turning it to steam almost instantly. Rapid disassembly ensues.
