Popular Post Cliff
I heard in the guild fb group that there is no deal on Jet clamps, at least on Woodcraft's flyer. I think I'm not able to get any this year anyway, but it's a bummer if they don't offer it. My Black friday is a bit early since it's a month long sale. I went back and forth between this and getting the Grizzly g0555 model, since getting it would allow me to get the Bosch Glide. I finally decided it's better to have the bandsaw I really want than to get two tools though. I don't know if this thing can ever be gotten for cheaper than this, but I'm satisfied not having to pay tax or an extra shipping fee, and getting $109 off.
Brendon_t
That's not what my woodcraft buddy told me but he may be wrong. Amazon usually has the deals too.
Guest
Jet clamps might be the most overrated tool in woodworking. They are heavy, don't adjust easily (especially one handed) and expensive even when 50% off. I have a few bessey revos and they are 100% better. I also bought some Universal Clamp Company aluminum clamps and these are my go-to clamps. They don't have those tiny teeth, so glue cleans up easily. They are light weight, so easy to manuever around a heavy work piece and you can easily carry 8 or 10 clamps to your bench without risking a hernia exam. My jets are now collecting dust in a corner of my shop. I would sell them, but I don't like random craig's list shoppers coming to my house. Cochese
I might buy a pair of clamps (because I'd be shocked if they weren't on sale somewhere), but that's probably about it. A couple video games, some gifts for others. I'm at a point of saturation where I don't really need anything.

I don't agree in all accounts, but it's true, they don't work well for everyone. Wanna mail em to me? What sizes you got?

Could work something out for next time I come to the area. I usually go to Chicago 3-5 times per year. Though April may be my next trip. As for the clamps themselves.. I have Jet, Jorgensen and Irwin parallel's. Irwin are worthless. Jorgensen are fantastic and well worth the money, because I can get them pretty cheap at Menards. Jet has that release trigger and I really like that. But yeah I do have a hard time adjusting them. I admit I have not tried Bessey as of yet. I bought some of the Jorgensen parallel clamps a few years back. Have four of 4' and four 2'. Menards now carries Irwin. Home Depot is carrying Bessey. Now that HD carries Bessey, I wonder if they'll have the six pack of 6" clamps for $15 again. I always thought that was Bessey trying to get in the door there. They were setting stuff up last weekend and I didn't see them out there in their tools area.
MisterDrow
HD has that deal where you buy a $99 Ryobi One+ Drill with two batteries, a charger, and a case and you get another Ryobi tool (up to $79) free. Sort of an early Black Friday thing, I guess. Don't know how long that lasts.

I need to go buy out their stock. I feel like the Jets are worth the 50% off price tag. I don't really need many anyway. I have 2 4', 6 3', 6 2', 4 1' clamps. and 4 5' bar clamps and 2 10'. But I tend to use 12" and 24" most, so I think I want to get another 6-8 of each.

That you said some are still around i should check a few of the stores in small towns to see if there are still some hanging around. Do some of the Bessies go on sale for black Friday I've been wanting to try some out them and the jets. I really like the Jorgies but can't bring myself to introduce a new species to my shop. Eric.
I own Jet and Bessey parallel clamps. The Bessey heads slide easier on the bar but they have more flex. The Jets can be a little sticky, especially when they get boogered up with glue...but they are the heaviest duty of all the clamps. I don't know for sure but it feels like you can exert more clamping pressure with the Jets than you can with the Besseys. Both the heads and the bars are more robust. Whether or not you need all that clamping pressure on a regular basis will depend on the work you do. For me, usually not, but I'm glad I have the power when I need it. I wouldn't wanna glue up a Roubo top without them. I think for regular furniture projects the Besseys probably hit the sweet spot...but I don't see them on sale for 50% off so that's how I ended up with mostly Jet.

I'm in need of a new bandsaw and thinking about a Laguna next year, I like how they have free shipping and then charge you $75 for handling, that's pretty poopie of them. Llama
The best Black Friday deal I've seen is at Target... Not really woodworking, and I don't want to get into an Apple vs X debate... BUT, Target is issuing $250 gift cards for every iPhone 7 sale on Thursday. We were going to buy them anyway, and the guy said to wait until next Thursday. So, we're waiting... three iPhone 7s = $750 in savings. You can apply the gift card to the purchase immediately, and basically pay nothing per month. So, if you're in the market for a new iPhone, there is not a better deal around. Clamps, I agree. I recently bought Besseys and they are great. I had the Jorgs, but sold them with my shop sale. My OCD would have prevented any mixing, so they went away. Best deal on Bessey I've seen are on Amazon. They are roughly $16 cheaper per clamp than Woodcraft. There are folks who really love them though. This is just another example of how one woodworker finds one tool or technique to work best while another shakes his head. This is one of the great strengths of a forum; differing opinions from different folks. Alas, the thrill of Black Friday has lost its edge for me. I have reached maximum density and if anything wants to come it, something needs to leave. This however, doesn't stop me from greedily looking over the ads when they come in.
Gixxerjoe04
What I hate about all clamps is how 24" parallel clamps are like $30-40 a piece, and 48/50" clamps are only a few dollars more. So then I ended up buying more long ones than short ones thinking why not have the extra length(that's what she said) for a few more bucks, and they long ones sure are annoying when you have to clamp smaller things together. Cliff
OK so.. apparently getting a bandsaw from ND to IL is next day shipping?! Of course the truck it's on doesn't have lift gate, and they said one that will have that won't be in the area until next week. So yeah @Gixxerjoe04 - free shipping and that $75 handling fee (but I think every place has that, could be wrong) and it came next day. Not bad.
