Popular Post Chestnut
It was the last couple days, but i got my irrigation line installed. Posing a bunch of pictures because i'm surprised at how well the grass went back in. I only had one issue. I hit the mail feed irrigation line with the corner of my shovel. Water shot a good 25 feet in every direction. I had to sprint to the basement to shut the water off. The sprinkler lines were a mine field. The 10-12 feet of elevation change will drain the line mostly for winter. The rest will drain through an automatic drain valve I installed at a low point i created near the fire pit. I have nice sandy soil so it should disappear into the ground nicely. Redwood post for the mount point. Reclaimed from a fence that was in place for nearly 50-60 years.
Coop
Setting the 4x4 and drilling thru it to support the faucet is a neat idea.
Chestnut
It's very sturdy. The 4x4 is only 12-13" in the ground so i don't know how long it's going to last.
Tpt life
That is the way state parks support faucets/spigots here.
Chet
Why did you use galvanized instead of copper at the redwood post?

Because it's outside? I guess the easy reason is the underground line is all polypipe which uses barbed fittings. They have adapters to MIP threads so i didn't think about it I just grabbed galv pipe. I could have easily gone with a copper fitting and used the 5 feet of 3/4" copper i have sitting around. That said I think long term strength with the galv will probably be better. I wont' have to worry about hitting it with a shovel.
Popular Post JohnG
I assembled the router table fence and downdraft box for my sawstop. I haven’t used the router table part yet but I’ve made a few cuts with the saw. It’s awesome!
tag
I moved some white oak to make room for some red oak and found 6 cherry boards 8’x8”x2” I didn’t know I had. It was like Christmas.

Popular Post gee-dub
Clean up the drywall opening around the attic ladder in the new shop and added some trim. There will be a full caulk, clean and touch-up paint effort between the "ready to move in machines" step and the "put all the construction stuff away" step. I also cleaned up some of the gathering mound of construction waste around the job site.
Popular Post Mark J
I put an edge on a barbeque spatula. I think there must be some Consumer Product Safety rule, but it seems that every grill spatula you buy has to have a thick steel blade with a flat blunt edge or if a bevel is ground it may not be more than 1/4 the thickness of the blade. It finally dawned on me that I have a grinder, I have options. Took about 5 or 10 counting the time to let the spatula cool. Just did some turkey burgers (which by the way have no redeeming qualities whatever) and it seemed to work much better. Of course in fairness, I should mention that I had done a thorough cleaning of the grate this afternoon, too.
Popular Post wtnhighlander
"Turkey" and "burger" in the same sentance, does not compute. Is this some new language that you speak? 1

Chestnut
I'm ok with ground turkey when it can be hidden in a hotdish or casserole. Turkey sausages are ok accepting them for what they are. Burgers should be beef, venison, elk, or bison. 12 hours ago, JohnG said: Next step is veggie burgers. I've wanted to try one of those impossible burgers or beyond meat burgers. The idea is intriguing but the cost isn't there yet. I can get ground beef for really cheap, when i mix it 50/50 with the deer i shoot it's almost free. Mark J
I tried one from Burger King when they were the rage. I thought it tasted like soot, but that could have been the Burger King effect.
JohnG
It’s probably the BK effect. I’ve had a few of those and they varied quite a bit, probably depending on the location and cook. The Impossible and Beyond “meats” can be quite good when done right. I actually very rarely eat meat, and there are some pretty good alternatives out there. However, there are also some really bad alternatives that give the rest a bad rep.
wtnhighlander
I just figure that when I want veggies, I eat veggies. Disguising them as 'meat' just adds processing costs and probably extra chemicals.
legenddc
Not trying to brag but I got to ride the struggle train tonight. Was trying to make a quick simple mitered picture frame and I swear my brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders. Finally got it glued up and will finish it up this weekend. Maybe a good night’s sleep will fix me.
