Popular Post treeslayer
LST (landing ship tank) USS 325 came to town this week, only one of its kind still operational, landed on Omaha beach D-Day +1, very cool.
Mark J
Fascinating ships. I learned a little bit about them from some sailors memoirs I ran into on the internet. Wish she would make port somewhere near me. That would be worth a day trip. Edited August 26, 2018 by Mark J Just found out the ship's home port is Evansville IN. Very doable overnight trip. Tom King
There is an outfit on the lake here that uses one of the smaller WWII landing craft to put Rip-Rap on the shoreline. They use a small Bobcat on it to offload the Rip-Rap right where it goes off the front of the boat with the ramp dropped. http://www.shorelinespecialists.com/companyProfile.html

Tom King
How did they get that thing to Iowa? I guess it really doesn't draw much water though.

I gave it a really good look Chet, its open for tours but the clouds have been tremendous, i hope to get on it before it leaves tomorrow. They just drove it up the Mississippi Tom, shallow draft, not too wide for the locks, you can Google it for more info. it goes on tour once a year to different ports. 18 minutes ago, Tom King said: How did they get that thing to Iowa? Popular Post wdwerker
I've been building another batch of shelves for plumbing displays. This order was for 100 of them. I've got several jigs to keep things uniform. This is 1/2 of the order before covering them in laminate. The holes are where they bolt to the display panels. It's repetitive work but it's profitable ! Deliver the order midweek then back to the Arched bookcase job.

The LST is heading south to the Quad Cities today, landing in Bettendorf if i remember correctly. I recommend anyone in the area take a tour its well worth the 10 bucks to climb aboard.

So i bought a receiver as installed it. Saved me a good $250 but didn't really want the work.

They we're told by the courts that that was a no no. At the time their lawyers claim to the courts was that we weren't talented enough to tow with a manual transmission. That holds true today, with this added response. 60% of the population shouldn't even be allowed inside a vehicle of any kind except as a passenger in an ambulance. 1
