The cast iron insert for the Weber Kettle really lets you get a nice crust. These were good on the Hawaiian Sweet Buns. What is the yellowish stuff on that one patty? Popular Post Pondhockey
Made a base plate for my PC7518 so I could use it in my router table (top.) Small thing, but now I'll leave the 7518 in the top and use my plunge router for other stuff. (Now a table for the top is moving up my priority list!)

Klappco
Big cook yesterday so today I’m cleaning up. Had our annual Brisketfest party to celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of summer. I also made some wings for my lunch as I was working. Burnt Ends, both Sweet and Superhot, Smoky Beans, ABTs and Bacon Candy (used the bacon I made for both of those), and some Red Hot Sausages. Got a few steps in. Nice side benefit of these cooks is that my pit is a few feet from my shop so when I’m in there it smells like Q for a few days. Now to start projects! And practice for the competition my new BBQ team is doing in July. Hmmm, might have to cook a whole bunch of ribs and briskets to practice.

Chet
two questions- 1) Is it good woodworking technique to select your wood species based on whether you can use the scrap / mistakes in your smoker? 2) Do you tend to make more mistakes because you know you can just throw it on the smoker pile? Begin the discussion.

Popular Post Pondhockey
You guys are awesome! I love seeing 20k steps for a BBQ. We've been lolligaging after my bro's 65th birthday. We happened upon Mt Ranier on a sunny day (not the norm) so here it is (with my squeeze.)

Begin the discussion. 1. I will admit it has some factor. I typically use my handplane shavings to light the coals with a chimney. I had one time where i wasn't paying attention to the species i used when i lit the coals and everything came off tasting like chemicals. 2. I won't make more mistakes but i feel less wasteful bad chopping it to pieces and throwing it in my to the grill pile.

I started my deck reno last summer, but never finished the railing. Original plan was to make a step-down to a lower section, but weather turned nasty, and I never finished. We changed our minds when summer rolled around, and decided to just rail it off, no second level. So, I had a 2x6 leftover from last summer, all ready to go 'round the corner. Popular Post Tom King
I started our house in 1980. It's still not finished. We had an old wooden step ladder toenailed to the floor as access to upstairs, where our bedroom was, up until our first child made Pam's belly too big to climb it. I had two old carpenters working for me then. One asked me why I hadn't finished the stairs. Before I could think of a smart-assed answer, the other one said, " He wants to see if his Wife is worth a damn". Not exactly the reason, but truth nonetheless. 2
