Popular Post Catco
Wasn't today, but this past Sunday as we finally had a break in the weather. It was a cool and sunny day finally. The wife was in NYC for BookCon, had the day to myself. Started the day teaching a friend how to solder. He's big into the haunted house industry and is quite the full body costume maker and designer, he was a final candidate for the TV show Face Off, until life happened and he had to pull out of the running. I'm designing and producing a custom DMX lighting system for him built from the ground up to his exacting specifications, learning a lot from him along the way and teaching him what I know at the same time. After that bit it was time to check an item off the wife's "Do this thing" list. Landscaping. Bleh. She wants some pavers at the bottom of the steps from the deck. So I set about digging. With it all dug out, figured out how deep I needed to go and started leveling and tamping down the dirt. Followed by laying some garden fabric, a layer of sand and these paver base things I found that I wanted to try. Luckily I had to great helpers that were great for moral support. Kept on going and finally got to a stopping point as the mosquitoes were coming out and I didn't have the time to cut down the rest of the pavers to fit the rest into place. Headed back insides, fed myself and my helpers, and they promptly passed out. Helping me was apparently quite tiring for them. All in all a pretty good day.
Pondhockey
Put Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer (CPES) on a redwood facade to cover a deteriorating "fiber concrete" outdoor propane fireplace top. While waiting for it to dry I'm trying to figure out why my dorky little Craftsman 12" bandsaw is suddenly not tracking. But the weather is nice and we got in a 10 mile cycle to the local state park and then coffee shop :-)

I'll be interested to know how your "paver base things" work out.
Coop
We bought my wife a much needed new Chevy Traverse today to replace her 2007 Murano. She didn’t say it but I suspect that she loves me more tonight than last night. Time will tell
Popular Post wtnhighlander
I did this (yesterday, actually). I've turned over 200k in a couple different vehicles, but this is the first that made it past 3. #likearock

Mark J
Awesome! Congratulations. I almost made it to 200k in my Highlander hybrid before my kid "needed" a car.
mat60
Congrats Ross. Wife and I were able to get about 280k on a Subaru she drove. It was pretty tired when we replaced it. I think to get 300k on any truck is great also.

Popular Post Tom King
300k in a gas burner is quite an accomplishment!! This might be cheating, since it's a diesel, but if it's still rolling this November, I will have been driving it for 18 years. It's one of the few things I've ever bought that ended up being way better than I expected it to be when I first purchased it.
wdwerker
I'm just amazed that the digital readout still works. 1
Tom King
About the only thing that doesn't is the fuel gauge. I use the trip odometer for a fuel gauge. One of the first things I put on it was a 56 gallon aftermarket fuel tank. I fill it up every thousand miles, whether it needs it or not. When that digital readout stops working, I'll have to drop the big tank, and replace the sending unit.
Popular Post Coop
I saw this recently in a Woodsmith e Tips. I’ve used the branding iron before, with mixed results. Sometimes it’s spot on and others, I get more pressure on one area than the other and parts are not dark enough to see. With this , I have better control of the pressure and it’s uniform in darkness. Just cut them apart and glue them to your project.
Mark J
Even if you want to brand directly on the project, using the fitted sleeve would help with positioning and alignment. What I do when branding is rock the brand slightly to one side then rotate the handle around thek clock. Usually I have to sand back some scorching, but there's no way to fix a brand that's too light.

Chestnut
300k in a gas burner is becoming more and more common. 300k in a diesel is cheating. Let us know when it's 500k . Sitting down waiting for Chicago to start.

Luckily this is so tight that if it is too light, I just put it back down and it went right back in place. I guess that’s what the clamp is for. Popular Post Chestnut
Ate breakfast watching this guy and his 4 female friends walking around the yard. Popular Post Brendon_t
Very happy to report that after 8 years of persuit, I finally caught my first White Seabass yesterday. Was a great day on the water. Pulling a triple with a personal best halibut and a bunch of school sized yellowish was just the Cherry on the top. I'm not blasting the land out on these pics so please don't post them anywhere else. Brought home 40lbs of meat..
