Popular Post Chet
No x-rays of the plate and pocket screws but here is a pic of my pretty tootsies wrapped in plastic foam and tape. Like Mick said, maybe this picture should actually be posted in the feet up thread. 5
Popular Post Chet
I had a follow up with the surgeon this past Friday and he said everything was looking real good. In fact he said I will have just 4 more weeks of keeping weight off of the ankle, at that time I will get a cam walking boot and physical therapy. They also changed the cast to something more comfortable and lighter.

Good shot, but it doesn't qualify for "feet" up.... maybe tootsie up. 1
Byrdie
Is the new, lighter cast so that it doesn't make as deep an impression in the ottoman? Seriously, glad to hear that your mend is on the right course. The alternative sucks.
Popular Post Chet
I had another Doctor's appointment today. X-rays looked good so they took of the second cast off and gave me a walking boot. Next week I will start twice a week physical therapy for six weeks. For a few days they have me using a walker to help get use to walking again. It feels weird to put weight on it, don't know how to describe it other then a little weird. I am looking forward to a good night sleep and a normal shower.

Most definitely, I have one project sitting on the bench and three waiting in the wings. But I am not going to press beyond what the Doc and therapist clear me for, I don't want to set myself back. But at least at this time I can sit at the desk again and do some sketching and planning.

It's just like any new technique first one took awhile but I have gotten it down pretty well now.
Popular Post Chet
So a big milestone today. Got cleared today by the physical therapist for resuming most all normal activities, just no driving yet. No more walking boot, knee scooter, or cane. Feels good to just have normal shoes on. He was pretty impressed with how far this old geezer had push through the therapy already, a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. I still have some limitations like my stride is real short and I have to be careful not to push to hard at lengthening because that can cause an un-natural limp. He said the stride will come along as the PT improves the flexibility of everything. Cleared for shop time but I need to listen to what my ankle tells me as far as how long I am out there each time. 7

gee-dub
Great news. Everyone I know (including me) who has had good success by religiously following their PT routine tends to preach the value. Keep up the good work and take care. Soon all this will be a part of the past.
