From then on, the claw on that toe grew to the left rather than down, and about 3 times as fast as the others (maybe because it wasn't getting worn down by hitting the ground). The claw would catch on bushes or whatever and she repeatedly re-injured it. For the past month she's been unable to put any weight on it and after lots of x-rays, meds and epsom salt soaks it was no better. They finally decided that the bone around the claw has disintegrated to the point that it was best to remove the toe completely. That was Thursday. Ankle injuries aren't fun. I will have ankle pain for the rest of my life after continual injuries playing hockey. Hope that's not the case for you. Popular Post Chet Posted January 15, 2019 Popular Post Report Share Posted January 15, 2019 I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. The prayers must have worked because here I am. I am a person of faith but I was a little nervous as I have never been put under for surgery before. Never been in the hospital before. All went well according to the doctors. I didn't quite understand all the science behind it but they wanted to do the surgery as soon as possible or they would have had to what two week to let the swelling go completely down, so they did it late Friday night and then I came home Saturday afternoon. They put a plate and several screws in to fix the damage I did. The biggest problem now is that I can't put any weight on it for 6 weeks or so and I am supposed t keep it elevated most of the time, so doing the regular thing we do through out the day is the challenge. I haven't had any real pain through the whole process and have only used some Tylenol for pain since I got home and the last time I had to do that was Sunday evening. I am trying t get some pictures of the X-rays to post because I know how you all are around here, "pictures or it didn't happen". 8 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
