BillyJack Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 Getting to be the season. After two years I’ve decided to just box in the back of the boat. Trying to decide of a I want to got forward any to gain some actual storage. 1 Quote
BillyJack Posted March 9, 2023 Report Posted March 9, 2023 I can hook it to the front aluminum floor , but I’m trying not to attach to the transom. Was looking for some rubber blocks to support it in the back and keep it 2” off the actual floor. Quote
Popular Post BillyJack Posted March 9, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 9, 2023 Finally started. Torsion box design.. 3 Quote
BillyJack Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 I’m going to mount the torsion box flush to the aluminum floor, the problem is there’s run off of water if it rains. I’m thinking I could use some kind of rubber washers with the screws to build a gap so the water would run down like a waterfall versus on top of the plywood edge. I’m thinking I will jus5 build it up all the way the live well.. Becaus3 I don’t want the plywood directly on the aluminum floor for run off, I need to build it up 1/4. Maybe 1/4 aluminum flat bar.. BillyJack Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 I think I will try some PVC on edge. 1 Quote
Popular Post JohnG Posted March 11, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 11, 2023 @gee-dub’s somewhat recent post below reminded me that I’ve been putting off making drawer organizers for our kitchen. So I ordered a V bit and picked up some 1/4” BB ply. I started with out “junk drawer” first. Started out with the outer border. I had to use a forstner bit for clearance from the screws holding the drawer front on. Then made the dividers. The top edge of the outer border are chamfered with a small flat on top, and I just eased the top edge of the dividers with sandpaper. The inner dividers are slightly shorter than the outer border, so that the top edge is just below the chamfer of the outer border. First one done. 6 Quote
BillyJack Posted March 12, 2023 Report Posted March 12, 2023 Haven't used the table saw router in probably 10 years. Blew it out and it turned on and stopped.took it put to the bench, pulled the top and blew it out as good as I could. Works but every once in awhile it drags. I just don't have good luck with Dewalt routers Quote
Popular Post JohnG Posted March 12, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 12, 2023 2nd drawer organizer done. As a side note- I believe Liberty Tabletop is the only remaining company to make silverware in USA. 5 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted March 13, 2023 Report Posted March 13, 2023 Nicely organized. Am I seeing correctly, that the dividers fit into V-grooves in the box walks? That's a nice touch. Quote
JohnG Posted March 13, 2023 Report Posted March 13, 2023 That’s correct. Nothing is glued, just slid into V grooves. I was originally just going to make a standalone drawer organizer like you can buy, but in the specific dimensions/layout I wanted. But then I saw Gee-Dub’s thread (linked a few posts above) and realized that was a much better solution. 2 Quote
Popular Post Chestnut Posted March 14, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 14, 2023 Daycare sent us a picture with hazel sitting in a chair at a table. That initiated Megan to request a small chair and table to be made. I went on line to get some dimensions for infant chairs and found a cool design that puts the seat offset in the chair with a design such that the chair can be flipped around to change the seating height. I started the project with making 2 identical sides. Then I made the seat and seat back by gluing 2 boards together. I didn't take pictures of this but it'll be clear from the final pictures. To make the chair nice and safe i rounded all the eges with my leg vise router table. Ignore that compleated chair in the background. I did not take this picture after the fact . So as i mentioned the chair seat is offset. In the infant orientation the seat height is 5" off the ground. To get the toddler height of 6.5" the chair is flipped over. As you can see ergonomics is not a primary concern. The final height is to flip the chair forward and sit on the back of the chair as a stool. I have a little bit left to complete on the chair. I attached the sides to the seat and back with screws. I want to put some glue to ensure it doesn't break in the event that one dark evening dad is walking through the house and steps on the chair. I'm also going to plug the screw holes and apple shellac for finish. 10 Quote

Chet Posted March 17, 2023 Report Posted March 17, 2023 Drew. how about drilling a couple of holes on each side of the panel the mirror in on and zip tying it to the balusters. Still removable and you get your clamps back 1 Quote

Frankly, right on the cusp of being worth it as opposed just buying a new router. Quote
Tpt life Posted March 17, 2023 Report Posted March 17, 2023 I cannot read ECM without Electronic Counter Measures coming to mind. What is the function of said ECM? 2 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted March 18, 2023 Report Posted March 18, 2023 I think he mean Electronic Control Module, a.k.a. speed controller? 1 Quote

Sorry, @wtnhighlander has it right, Electronic Control Module. It's a black box at the top of the 621 that handles soft start and speed control. [thread on woodnet] 1 Quote

Popular Post Chestnut Posted March 27, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 27, 2023 A couple weeks ago i made a chair for hazel. I've been meaning to make a table for her to sit at with the chair. Yesterday i decided to make it happen. The table is cherry MDF plywood with walnut legs. The table top is 16" x 30". I didn't edge band the mdf but just sanded it and applied multiple heavy coats of finish. The finish I used is shellac. Legs are held on by a domino. This doesn't need to be super strong. With the weight of the mdf the table is nice and stable. The walnut is off cuts from the chairs I'm working on. The legs are 8" long for a table height of 8_3/4". I also applied finish to the chair. Shellac as well. It's just nice to be able to apply all the finish i need in 45 min. It should be durable enough and if the finish gets damaged it should be easy to repair. 6 Quote
