treeslayer
just remember to use it only on the pull stroke Ice and you'll be good, nice saw, and the caliper will measure those really fine hairs we all have heard about, mine comes out on special occasions.
wdwerker
Japanese saws do take some practice to get used to. They cut an amazingly narrow kerf.
wtnhighlander
My wife continues to surprise me on Christmas. She says I'm difficult because I just save up and get my own things. She random picked this stuff on her own. 10/10 in my opinion. The caliper is fun stuff. I've been checking things all day. Looking forward to trying out this saw. I wonder if it's going to be weird because it's backwards. Ho ho ho! A caliper does not collapse under its own weight at full extension. For all other tasks, it is much better that a tape measure.
wtnhighlander
6 days ago it was 17*F. Yesterday, it was 87*F. Today, I wore shorts & T-shirt while walking the dog at a local park, and saw a snake sunning himself by the trail. Weird winter.

Coop
Trade her in for a squirrel or coon dog. I've found that possums don't go over too well on the pit!

Coop, I'm surprised she reacted at all. She's a Min-Pin (mostly), and generally ignores other critters. I think he caught her by surprise in the dark.
Popular Post davewyo
Speaking of hijack...last night someone tried to charge $600+ on my credit card at Royal Albert Hall. Thank goodness my credit card company knows me better than that.
Popular Post wtnhighlander
So, my wife goes to empty the clothes dryer, and the plastic door pull snaps off in her hand. This looks like a job for "WOODWORKERMAN"! One scrap of cherry later, and BOOM: I considered using a bit of curly walnut, but that would just be silly.
bleedinblue
My brother in law has a little bit of land with some woods and no close neighbors. He's an engineer who loves building machines. He's getting bandsaw mill fever and I think he'll actually build one. This could be a very good thing! davewyo
Last evening I was going out to the shop(in a blizzard) and when I got about 100 feet away I heard something running. I thought; "Dang, did I leave the heater on?", but no, that wasn't the heater vent I was hearing. When I was within 25 or 30 feet I could tell it was a shop-vac running. I know I didn't leave a shop-vac running. I mean, how could you leave the shop and not notice a machine is running? I reached out, turned the door knob, and started to open the door when the shop-vac kicked off. Nobody was in there. The only thing I can think of is that I have two separate shop-vacs on iVac automated vacuum switches. Perhaps one of them is malfunctioning and the switch is turning on periodically. Or maybe I have a ghost that enjoys woodworking.
wdwerker
You could check the machines that are set to trigger the vac, maybe one is pulling enough "phantom power " to trigger the vac ? Short, failing switch, failing capacitor etc. Or someone is just messing with you !

CandorLush
I got a giant splinter last night from tack clothing some plywood and accidentally running my finger down the edge. Still hurts

ClassAct
Was out running errands yesterday and stopped in at Crosscut Hardwoods in Seattle, the first time I've ever been there. Sigh. Oh, to have the room and the budget for some of that lumber.... The big 16/4 ash slabs immediately had me thinking "Roubo." Maybe in another fifteen years, when my wife retires and we can move to a home with a shop.
wdwerker
My pinky fingernail grows with a 1/8 wide ridge down the middle . Little tablesaw accident when I was a teen cut a kerf just thru the nail. Now its a constant reminder to be safe and use a push stick or Grrripper. rodger.
As a teen, I bent a fingernail back really far one-time (it was inside a sparring glove) and it never grew back the same. It has ridges on it , and has a slightly rougher textured than my other nails.
