Popular Post Rapid Roger
I ran into this problem so often that I finally gave up. I DON'T DO PLUMBING! There are people out there that do plumbing for a living and welcome the work. Not only do they have more knowledge than I do about the subject but 7 times out of 10 they have the exact part they need on their truck! They not only do it better and correctly, they do it much faster than I ever could. A kitchen faucet was leaking. I was sure that it was just a gasket BUT, knowing that I would probably break something, I decided to call the PERFICT helper. He dismantled the faucet, looked at the gasket, commented that this type of faucet used three different gaskets over time, but he thought he had one on the truck. He went to the truck and came back with the PROPER GASKET and installed it and re-assembled the faucet in about 20 minutes while I watched. (no, I didn't try to help or interrupt progress) Yes, he charged me TOO much money and yes, I paid it with a smile on my face.! It would have taken me 20 minutes to dissemble, 20 minutes to go to the hardware store, another 20 minutes to go back to the hardware store to get the correct gasket, another 20 minutes to re-assemble and the DARN THING WOULD STILL BE LEAKING! Not to mention buying a plumbing part that I broke in the process and all the cuss words and frustration that my blood pressure doesn't need. (and that is assuming that it didn't take a special tool to do the job) I'm a believer.
legenddc
Only problem with that around here is it takes me 8 million messages until I can finally find someone to come out. Seems like we've finally found a decent do it all handyman who can fill in when I'm sick of fixing stuff while the kid naps.
wdwerker
I was that guy when I was in my twenties. The more I invested in woodworking tools and shop space the less plumbing and handyman work I took on. Now it's gotten much more difficult to keep up with the details of all the wide variety of hardware & equipment out there these days. I'll start by asking something: What is the best place in Ohio to get a burger? Just had an excellent burger at Clay Street Grill in Austinburg. But their excellent nachos will feed a medium sized family. Now for Hot Dogs, it's Scooter's, in Mentor On the Lake. Excellent dogs, and the owner will take a head count of your party, and if it's less than 5, he won't let you order anything larger than a small fry. The Large fry will easily feed a small European village, or a large American family.

trialbyfire
Little man wanted to build something yesterday. This part was pretty funny. It took him about 4 minutes to cut that but he stayed with it. I've used that miter box. I must say it performs much better than I expected it to for 8$. SawDustB
I've been eyeballing this kit for the last week or so. I don't want the tenon marker wheel though. I'm going to get the micro adjustment one. @bleedinblue are you going to post your first attempts or hold off until you're making awesome stuff? Mine were pretty rough. I'm hoping it'll get better with proper marking tools. 3 dovetail markers seems a bit excessive. It might work out better just to get the saw, marking gauge you want (I have the micro adjust gauge and like it) and a dovetail marker in the angle you want.

I have to refinish an old entertainment center and turn it into a play kitchen for my daughter..my wife spends too much time on Pinterest...after that I am going to build a few tool stand cabinets. These will have a total of 10-12 drawers and will be the perfect skill building project. I'll take pictures of my progress and post em.

And I'd just get the single marking gauge unless you plan to cut a bunch of M&T by hand.
gee-dub
My neighbor cooks. I mean cooks . . . like a chef. He also BBQ's . . . like a chef. I just went out to toss something on the burn pile. You could have just got up from Thanksgiving dinner and if you caught a whiff of what's coming from next door you'd think you were starving.
