Coop
Thanks, the suspension was killing me. My allergies were a once a year event, now they are year round and the brown paper roll towels were taking it’s toll and expensive. Now, it’s soft to the nose.
Popular Post Chestnut
Did a couple firsts today. First time drilling and tapping cast iron. Overall went well was far easier than i thought it would be. I've cut through tenons before but these were my best yet. Ignore the big gap on the side that was just a fast test fit i cut the extra length off and the real deal was gapless. I'll do a project showcase/journal later when i get more done. Then i made an outfeed table for my bandsaw out of cherry and redwood. Figured i'm using this thing all the time now and long rips and cutting curves on long pieces was getting really dicy at times. I have a curve to cut in a 68" long streacher tomorrow so i'm excited to try it out. Finish is Shellac 5 coats, buffed and waxed.

Chip Sawdust
Wow that's a piece of furniture on your saw! You don't use the miter slot much eh? On mine I dadoed for the miter. Actually it was the ReSaw jig guide I built that uses the miter slot. So today I did a ton of hand planing and got tired doing it!

Mark J
And for me getting two miter slots was one of the drivers for choosing the Jet bandsaw. Figured the guides are replacable, but it would be dang hard to route another miter slot .
Popular Post Chet
Hit 100,000 miles on my 2004 truck today. It takes a while when you don't commute. Pulled over and to a pic of the moment. 3
Popular Post treeslayer
7000 miles a year, that truck will last a long time at that rate with proper maintenance. That’s about what I put on mine, less on the wife’s car, I don’t have much reason to go out and mingle with the crazies.
Coop
Glad you pulled over for the pic. Just kidding, wouldn’t have thought otherwise!

Chip Sawdust
Whenever I've rolled an odometer over I always seem to catch it 1.3 miles too late or some such. But as of now, none of my vehicles have less than 100k on them *shrug* My old Chevy truck has 280k on it and I may start thinking about looking around for a replacement some day... Popular Post Coop
We went to my wife’s aunt and uncle’s house out in the country in Louisiana this weekend to visit. Unk introduced me to a fellow that could almost pass as Spanky. He built his house, barn and shooting range building completely out of sinker cypress. Some was built out of what he called “green cypress” that didn’t come from the river. His bedroom, which is a little much, is from poplar off of his property. The inside of his shooting range building is still unfinished on the inside waiting for the next log to come out of the river. His house: The 100 yard. shooting range A wall in a bedroom
Chet
Thats pretty cool that he did all that with salvage lumber. I personally would get a little tired of looking at the wood everywhere in my house. But you can't beat the price.
Coop
I totally agree. The inside is a little much. He was quick to say that there is no Sheetrock in the house.

treeslayer
not a neighbor in sight, looks like my kind of place, that much wood is a little over the top, but to each his own. sounds like you had a good time Coop.

I agree. The outside of the house and the man cave/shooting range building would have been enough for me. Had a great time, thanks. Country and country folks are great! Albeit, no HD or Lowe’s in sight. I would have save for and plan my trips.
Spanky
A lot of people are going back to wood in the new houses.. I get phone calls just about everyday wanting wood for a house.
Coop
The feller made this door from solid cypress, about 3 months ago, slabs glued together with TB. I didn’t want to bust his bubble regarding wood movement, although he had already experienced it with the board and batten.
