Popular Post RichardA
I got to host for a short while, Mark J and his wife, and my House mouse Boo loved their little dog. That's a sign that they are always welcome back. I did however err on the side of good will and introduced them to Spanky. Now they need to get hearing aids. Spanky can talk your ears off. Redneck style.

Tpt life
Snow (ice) day. This one was project free, enjoying family time. As temps look too low for our urban walk zones in the next week, I need to figure out which project to pick up and nibble on.

Well that sounds like a somethin I can get behind. I would have the same tradition, with my flowers, but someone always ends up caughing, and who wants to shake your hand when it's got your mouth all over it. Better to greet, then smoke.

Popular Post DerekMPBS
She got to come home yesterday, after one night in the hospital. The surgery went well - the doctors said there were no complications and everything went smoothly. The hip socket in her pelvis was a bit shallow, so they had to bore it out, but he said that is not uncommon. The surgery took about an hour and 45 minutes, and she was in recovery for about 2 hours before they took her to her room. She was up walking in the halls (slowly) that afternoon and again that evening. I had to make a small platform to help her get into bed, as we have one of those extra-deep mattresses and box springs that make for a high bed. We have to be careful to keep her leg aligned with her hip as she gets in and out, as the hip is prone to dislocation if moved side-to-side very much. But she can sit and stand by herself with the aid of her walker. She had a prescription for pain medication, but it was pretty much ineffective for this surgery, so they put her on oxycodone for awhile. She starts physical therapy tomorrow. I'm back at work now, but fortunately her mother is retired and lives in town, so she is staying with my wife during the day to take care of her. She will also be taking her to PT, three times a week. Once this one is healed up she gets to have the other one done, probably about 2 months from now. I guess we'll get good at dealing with the day-to-day aspects of recovery. Thanks for all the warm wishes. She and I appreciate them.

pkinneb
I watched 2 high school kids carry 99 sheets of sheetrock into my basement before helping them tow their car out of my yard Apparently that's Menard's home delivery! Guy in truck unloads sheetrock in driveway and leaves while two kids carry it in the house. I had to call my son in law over with his F450 to get them out, when the kid tried to tip him my son in law was like no that's ok pulling you out was easier then helping my father in law carry all that sheet rock in All on one of the coldest days of the year so far LOL 1

I've had 5-6 new development reviews on my desk this fall alone. One they were going to split into phases and decided to just do the whole thing at once because the demand was there. That doesn't bode well for my garage getting done then...... man i really don't want to hang rock on ceilings 11.5' up.

I was one of those kids, many years ago. Six of us carried the rock into 10 or 12 new houses on a cul-de-sac. Middle of sumner. Boss brought frozen gallon milk jugs of water. I drank three by day's end, and didn't need to pee until after I got home that night.

It was my first job out of high school & I did it for a few months that summer. That was back in the day when 5/8" fireguard came in 14' sheets. I'd get stuck carrying double 14's with one of the gorillas that'd been doing it for 10 years & those guys really move. Most important thing I learned from that job was that I didn't want that job.

We were I of 3 enlisted couples at the thing. It was all very formal until the commanding general ordered Slivovitz for the entire group. It was served in a 2 shot glass with the plum. After about the 3rd round, Slivovitz made the general's wife clothes fall off. It was a fun night, with everybody sworn to secrecy, (you will end up in Siberia if you talk), the next day. Popular Post Mark J
This weekend I finally got this out of the box and upright: The tensions handle is down and behind the unit when tensioned and up when released. So I put a bicycle reflector on the handle to improve the conspicuity. I know not quite a gee-dub solution, but still...
