JohnG
I used a Fahrenheat 240v 5000w hanging heater in my last shop- unfinished and uninsulated 20x20 garage, with the ceiling open to the rafters. It took a while to warm it up but it was great to take the edge off the cold. I eventually set up a thermostat for it and just kept it at ~50 to keep things from freezing or taking too long to warm up when I had time in the shop.
Popular Post jussi
My CNC arrived last week. Came while it was raining. Luckily the UPS guy was nice enough to wait till I got home and didn't just leave it in front of my door to get soaked. Still waiting for my frame to arrive which was delayed but I can use it without it for now. Footprint is huge. At least for my shop but it will be worth it. I hope.

What do do you hope to do with the CNC?
Mark J
@jussi , that CNC will need a review!
Popular Post jussi
@Tpt lifeA couple of things. I'd like to use it to make personal complete projects, templates for other projects, some joinery, and eventually make things to sell to hopefully pay for itself and maybe even have a little side business. @Mark J Will do. I still need to make a simple table to mount it on. I was gonna go all out and make a torsion box but seeing the price of mdf now and how long it would take I think I'll just go with a simple 2x design for now. Plus I don't want to put a lot of time in the current design until my base arrives. I also plan on making a vertical support for it to do joinery in the future.

JohnG
I bought a few things from them during the holidays and everyone who made a purchase was entered into a drawing for a free block plane. I actually didn’t even realize they had the drawing going on until they emailed me to say I won it.

Popular Post Robby W
My Christmas present from 2020 is finally complete. Lee Valley had delivery issues. I ordered plane place and cap iron sets. The got the blades, but they had one part or the other. Finally, when they got the naldws in, I asked them to ship them to me. I received them about a.month ago. Still no cap irons. I called the other day to see if the February 26 date was real, but they weren't scheduled for production. After almost a year, I decided to cancel the cap irons and buy them somewhere else. I went on the Hock tools site as I have some of those and they work really well. They had them in stock, so I ordered what I needed. They came in last Friday and everything fit. Finally!
Popular Post curlyoak
I cross cut a piece of plywood 23.5" wide. First try required an adjustment to the tool. 2 or 3 more tries and it is dialed in. A cut at that dimension means the bed of the tool to start the cut is not supported by my saw. But the groove in my table saw is a T slot and there is a compatible part to fit in the T slot so it was not a problem. I have a mitre 1000. Had it for years and it has served me well. I don't think this new one will get as much use but will be welcome when needed.
Mark J
@curlyoak, does the 5000 have a larger sled than the 1000? Looks like the 5000 is bigger than your TS.
curlyoak
The 1000 has no sled. Had this one for years. When I lent it to an "experienced" woodworker he cut my fence. Still works good. On the 5000 the side right of the blade is stationary.

legenddc
The 5000 is bigger than the Miter Express/1000 combo.
Chestnut
@curlyoakHow long did it take your order to arrive? Their site says orders are 9-12 weeks behind. When i bought my 1000 & 1000 HD off of Craig's list I gout a miter express as well. Today I ordered a longer fence to swap out with the really short useless one that comes on the 1000. I also ordered a replacement planel for the miter express. I'm going to give it a shot. I was originally going to get the 5000 but that seems like just too much of a miter gauge and I don't know if I'd like it.

The big benefit for me with the 5000 it now is the tool with the widest crosscut that is true and repeatable, And reliable in my shop. My 1000 is all of that button as wide of a cut.
Popular Post curlyoak
I clamp on a piece of wood with a notch for a stop. foreground a longer jig stick . I think I will use the 5000 when needed. But I won't throw away my jig sticks.
