sjk
Looking awesome Shane! Hey - can I put in an order for a set of those to replace my dining room chairs? And while you're at it, could you build a table-that-rocks, based off of one of those porch glider chairs?

One caveat, you gotta promise to never eat hot soup at this table.... Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

shaneymack
How are you going to shape those pieces? Spokeshaves, grinder....? No i just realized i made a dumb mistake. I glued my front transition block on the wrong pencil line. Just kinda one of those stupid mistakes where it seems like such an easy step so you turn your brain off and just work on auto pilot....I thought about it and it is a pretty easy fix. I will cut the block off being very carefull not to cut into the rocker. Clean up the whatever is left on the rocker with a block plane and sandpaper and then re glue the block where it should be 1.5" forward. I will post how it goes.
Popular Post shaneymack
So i repaired the transition block that i glued in the wrong place. Here is a pic of the error. See the front block is 1.5" back from where it is supposed to be. I had one line for the front of the block and one the represented where the rocker leg will start. I glued at the wrong line. I cut the block off at the bandsaw being carefull to just cut through the last lamination of the block. Now i had to remove the rest of the waste from the top of the rocker. I used the spokeshave here Now i had to do the same to the block itself. I used the block plane to get me close to the wenge layer then the card scraper. I made one more pieve of mahogany lam to replace the one that was just cut away. Test fit. Hairline gap. I took it apart and kept messing with it intill the fit was as good as its going to get. Glued up. Back in business. There was still a tiny hairline gap about 1" long on one of the sides when i glued it up. I will see how it turns out once its shaped. If it is visible i will try to repair or redo the rockers completely but I'm pretty sure It will be ok.
