When I visited Mount Vernon  I remember bowls and furniture were made from a tree that died or had to be taken out. Proposals had to be submitted and the craftsman/artist had to have a portfolio of works from juried shows.  After all that nothing that got built was impressive.

I have a lot of respect for people that make a living off of creative type work but unfortunately a lot of times it reinforces the creative types to play it safe. Your either a mad lunatic while your alive and brilliant when you die or just mediocre. I'm generalizing this doesn't always happen. I want to say Ansel Adams compared doing creative work for profit to prostitution in his autobiography.

As much as I respect, and have studied George Washington, he didn't plant that tree.   He was a great student of agriculture, but he was a gentleman, and gentlemen were called such because they didn't do manual work, and had soft hands.  One of his many slaves planted that tree, no doubt.   He had many trees, of many types planted at Mount Vernon.

I think his biggest asset was that he didn't need to sleep.  He would escort guests to their rooms usually late, almost always having guests in the house, and entertaining until past 11,  then get up at 4 a.m., light the fire in the kitchen, and read until everyone else started stirring.

Don’t mess with sewing machines.

I normally send my pants to a clothing alteration place to get hemmed up. It’s one of the most worthwhile ways to spend $10. I bought a new pair of pants and needed them for tomorrow so I decided to do it myself. I was almost done and then I heard a bang and then there’s some blood.  Happened so quickly.

I’m pretty sure the needle hit my nail and deflected to something softer. A new market for Sawstop here.

In a former life, I worked in a garment factory. With 300 women in a room, running 3-phase, 5 hp sewing machines, this was an every-day kinda thing.

Every boxer I've ever met was a complete goof-ass. They're really fun, silly dogs.

I had a boxer as a teen.  I took him to obedience trials, but would not claim to be a great trainer.  As a pup, Thor was chased by the geese (you can tell how that finally ended;  thankfully no goose was cooked.)  One day my mother left Thor in her prized Thunderbird convertible (top up, windows closed) and went into a shop.  Not long after, Thor showed up in the shop wagging his stub (Boxers get docked as pups.)

There was broken glass all over the driver seat and the curb.  (Not a scratch on Thor.)

It didn't come with any blades. I was at a toss up between Starrett and Timberwolf but talked to a couple guys about it and decided to give Starrett blades a shot. I got a couple 1/2" x 4tpi for resawing and straight cuts and a couple 3/16" x 10tpi for curves.

Where did you get the Starrett blades from?
