Popular Post Chestnut
Megan and I got a lot of the painting done. You are 100% correct. I used the platform and a ladder with an 8' 2x12 and was able to get all of the short walls and half of the long walls in 1 move. It's really nice having a large stable platform to work on, makes you realize how awful ladders are. I think I'm going to cut some pine trim and run simple baseboard and casing for the doors just to spruce it up a bit. I have material sitting around that has been getting in my way.
BillyJack
Amazon is suppose to deliver the replacement part. Hopefully this morning or I'll have to put it in Saturday. Popular Post gee-dub
Added a couple of vac ports to the spindle/disc sander for use with the new vac setup. The sander came with two different sized dust ports(?). I adapted them up a smidgen for 2-1/2" hose. Cleared off my desk which is a weekly event . . . I thought I was retired??? Got the dog to the vet and knocked few off the list for around the house; door that swings open or closed on their own, kitchen door that rubs, replaced a damaged door stop and stuff like that.
Robby W
I like your use of those new Rockler hose adapter/mount gadgets. I think they are one of the better things they came up with. They are made from good material too.
Popular Post Tom King
Hung the door I made from two pieces of glued together 3/4 plywood, for rearranging the dogroom. We're expecting four litters of puppies by the middle of January, and with my Mother living with us, we have to do a lot of redoing for the dogs. This is to separate the boys, and girls, and use another room the girls were using to sleep in for puppies One litter is already here. Pam had a waiting list of 60 people, before she stopped taking names. She still gets an average of three inquiries a day, and we don't advertise, other than having a website. Dog room is junky while in the middle of the remodel.

Popular Post Chestnut
Move my new band saw i got on a black friday sale into my shop finally. It lived in my shed for 2 weeks. Got it tuned up and am ready to hit the power button. Just have to move it in place first. I took a picture of the 2 14" saws side by side. They are almost 100% the same saw except for a 3 hp motor instead of a 1.5 hp.
treeslayer
Very nice Drew, I’m sure you’ll put it to good use, keeping both?

Yeah I've always wanted to get a dedicated saw for resawing and ripping and have a curve saw. I had some issues breaking blades on the left saw in the picture. That left me considering a 16" or 18" saw. I was always hesitant getting a big saw like that with my basement shop. Moving equipment in and out is a pain. I tried a new way to turn my saw and over the last year I've used my band saw more then ever and haven't had a blade break so I figured the problem is solved. I was going to get a smaller saw but when i was considering $500-$600 for something i might not be happy with i figured the extra little bit was worth it for a saw i knew I'd like.
pkinneb
I think you will be happy with that purchase, I use a 1412 for my curve cuts works awesome. I had purchased a Rikon 10" but was not impressed so I gave it to my daughter for crafts.

wtnhighlander
@gee-dub, did you use a traditional design, or something else? I have an idea for a sled / jig to cut "irregular" or variable-width fingers, but can never seem to get around to building it.

The sac-fence can be nudged left or right to give tighter and looser fingers. I have to confess that although I have an i-Box I use this method more often (???). He is just getting into it so it's fun for me to pretend to be knowledgeable. He is skilled at many other trades; a real handy guy. Popular Post Chestnut
I think it would be fun to get a lesson inn person from every person here. Even with the varying skill levels i believe everyone has something to both teach and then subsequently learn from one another. I got a hands on lesson from Ron and it was extremely valuable.
Popular Post Chestnut
Done! Bit of cleanup for this week and table setup. I milled some birch down and made trim for the baseboard and around the door. I really like how the birch works with the wall color. Finish was shellac. All in all i had about 4 hours of work in the trim.
legenddc
Looks great Chestnut. I had 4 days off of work and planned on a bunch of woodworking. I think all total I sanded the shaker end table for an hour. Had to do a bunch of errands and after getting our cars inspected earlier this week my wife's car needed new front brakes. Thankfully it warmed up to 60 here so I didn't freeze and got to spend a bunch of time with the kids outside. 4 days left of work this week and then I'm free for 2 weeks!

It is great for banging out a lot of small boxes or drawers but has real limitations when it comes to working with thicker stock or larger workpieces.
legenddc
Actually got some snow here outside DC. First time our kids have been old enough to experience enough snow to really play in and go sledding. We may not have returned to virtual school after the morning break...
Popular Post Chestnut
Working on some odds and ends. Made some stand up tables for our reception in the newly finished garage. Finished the last of the gifts for people that have helped us with the wedding. These are handles for pizza cutters. It's nice to be able to add a little flair to a mundane kitchen tool. I hope they are well recieved. Then i finally got to make some sawdust with the new band saw. I will admit I bought it largely so i can make Raindeer throughout the year. I always enjoy churing out a few of them but i never have a 1/4" blade on my 3hp saw. Now having a 1/4" blade mounted and ready i'll be able to make odd stuff like this more often. I like these cause they take big scraps and make them smaller so they are easier to dispose of.
wtnhighlander
Like that Q&D table design, Drew - very effective. I also like the way the offset stripe in the pizza cutter handles looks like a swirl at some angles. 1

It's just been a scrappy day.
Popular Post Mark J
I like the pizza handles, too. Anybody complains about them send their pizza cutter to one of us. Tick tock, man, just a few more hours. Now don't forget us on the forum. We want to crash the party so post a picture from the festivities. 2
Coop
I swore to make some more reindeer this year and I either didn’t have time or didn’t git around to it and neither are justifiable excuses. The 10:00 weather lady last night predicted a low of 32* so to be on the safe side, I put on my head lamp and picked about 25 lbs of tomatoes. Glad I did as there was ice on the bird baths this morning.
