Tom King
I like your nailgun/airtool rack. I need to do that too. Some of mine are in the waterproof toolboxes with some fasteners, but some are too big to fit in those boxes.

Ronn W
Today I had to redo what I did yesterday. Making inlayed sand shaded corner fans for a jewelry box and forgot a step. No fix for this one. Start over. Aaaarrrgh! 1
Popular Post gee-dub
My neighbor has a door that has seen better days. It is an odd size for reasons I do not know. Replacement cost was just ridiculous. I am trying to restore and refinish it so he can get a few more years out of it. This is a guy who will help you out any time you ask. He lends me his tractor mower or backhoe for days at a time so I tend to help him out if I can.

Popular Post wtnhighlander
Why I avoid going in to the mower shed in summer. Those studs are 24" OC, putting that skin at about 4 feet long. And there were two more, almost as long. Probably king snakes, which are not venomous, but finding one unexpectedly will still make you hurt yourself! 3

Last year I was in my crawl space, looked up, and thought “Hmm, I wonder what that clear braided nylon hose goes to…” then realize it was a snake skin. We have some king snakes that live close to the house but encourage it, since they kill copperheads.

Popular Post wtnhighlander
After yardwork was finished, Cody and I stopped by Pinson Mounds State Archeological Area, to see the 39th annual Archeofest. The view from atop Saul's Mound is awesome. Here, you can see several of the 'Natve American' vendors that set up to sell food and trinkets. Every year the number of people that can legitimately claim Native American heritage shrinks, to be filled by 'wanna-be' folks that would look more at home at the '69 Woodstock music festival. There are several presentations on Native American culture, including dancers, that are great to watch. The park also does demonstrations of what life was like in the Middle Woodland period, when this site was constructed. Covering 1200 acres, the site contains 15 identified mounds, and hundreds of yards of fort-like earthworks. Believed to have been used as a meeting / market / ceremonial place more than a village, it includes the largest Middle Woodland mound in the US, named Saul's mound. At 72 feet high, it is composed of more that 8 million cubic feet of soil. Stairway up to the platform on Saul's mound. 124 stair steps had me puffing like a steam engine by the time I reached top. Here is the view from the museum walkway on the front side. Pretty impressive for a stone-age civilization.
Popular Post Coop
I found this under a tree in my yard today. I’ve never seen a ant mound in the shape of a volcano. The ants are smaller than fire ants and carpenter ants.

I don't know how you're determining "legitimacy" but it's likely not for you or I to do. Appearance alone is certainly no way to determine tribal membership. Remember that Blood Quantum was a US goverment imposition.

If Bob Barker can be a legitimate member of the Sioux Nation with only 1/8 genetic Native American heritage, then appearance is no indicator at all. My comment refers not to the blood lineage of the people involved, (although many admit to having none) but to the very obvious lack of any real Native American cultural practices or pride. More and more of the vendors at this event are just local flea market folks trying to sell some poorly made trinkets that would embarass an actual crafts-person of ANY cultural heritage. On the flip side, there are a couple of really skilled people, that display some marvelous stone knapping and bow making. It just makes me sad to see the traditions of certain people groups co-opted and diluted, reduced such cheap mockery of the original.

Glad to see it back. I have a Weber Genesis gas grill with 4 burners, using just 1 on the end. Above that burner there is a little firebox that I load up with wood (choke cherry in this case) and build a fire. Once it's going, I can pretty well turn off the gas. It just takes a tiny fire to keep the temperature up. I don't use chips because they burn too fast. The meat goes off to the side so it isn't over the heat.
