Popular Post Coop
She’s still burning and it’s NE off us by several miles and luckily for us, a light wind is blowing from the east. 2
Byrdie
As a kid I remember we had a fire at a chemical plant (part of the refinery I think). 55 gal. drums were launching 700 - 1000' into the air and leaving a chem trail as the flew. We were far enough away not to worry about contamination but it was quite the sight. You and your family are in my thought, Coop, and I hope all ends well.

Latest news report stated that Naphtha and Xylene were chemicals that are impacted. These are also used in our woodworking finishes. Give them an excuse to increase prices probably. Popular Post Spanky
If all woodworkers used as much lumber as Chestnut does they would be no tree’s. If I had two woodworkers like you Chestnut I would need a night shift till all the trees are gone.

I think you asked once how much i use per year and i totaled it up to around 150-200 BF. Some day I'll just buy 500 BF between 5/4 and 8/4 so i don't have to run to the yard every 3 months. 3 minutes ago, Gary Beasley said: Nice glueup on the legs, design looks Japanese influence. I kinda shot for A&C with that Japanese flair. In hindsight i'd make the squares much smaller and space them out better. It was an experiment to see how the proportions would work out. The sides are tapered in at the top i'd probably take another 1/2" off of each side if i were to do this again and narrow the top some more. This is how I figure out my own designs gotta see it built as a prototype before you can improve on the design sometimes.
Popular Post Chestnut
Any one heard from @K Cooper I read a news article that says that portions of the area he lives in has been evacuated.... Hope everything is good for him. Though he sells fire extinguishers and should be over at the fire doing his job.... 3

Popular Post Coop
Thanks guys. They got the fires out yesterday but now there is a tank of benzene leaking fumes. They are trying to keep it covered in foam until they can transfer it out. Right now they have a shelter in place for some of the areas. Only an inconvenience as now we have to go to a beer joint on the other side of town to imbibe
Popular Post wtnhighlander
On a lighter note, I got my woodworking workout in today... Just for giggles, I used my two sorriest planes to first square the rough planks, then smooth the glued panel. You see any glue lines? Yes, its more work, but those who blame poor results on their 'low quality' tools are just whining.
Coop
I do see a glue line, only because you asked, had to look close and not due to the plane. Looks good bud. Well done!

Popular Post Mick S
I went to Canyonlands National Park. Arches National Park yesterday. Did the Delicate Arch trail - little over 3 miles with a 480 foot elevation rise in rain and 36 degrees, about 1/3 slickrock. This old man's legs are complaining this evening. Great trip!

drzaius
I love southern Utah. One of my favorite areas in North America. And call me crazy, but I think July & August are best times to go there.
