The only downside to the riders is snow blowing can get cold. Trying to manhandle a smaller one line mine around keeps you warm . Kinda like how splitting wood keeps ya warm twice. Once on the splitting once on the burning. 1
Mick S
We had pretty good seats to the Bob Seger concert in Frisco, TX over the weekend. GREAT show. Still going strong at 73. Fantastic band!

Dude’s a legend! Just north of Plano. Home base for the Cowboys. The concert was in their "practice" facility which is bigger and nicer than most arenas I've been in. Byrdie
Used to be a railroad out of Frisco too. There's a museum there that has a Big Boy on display. During the time that I went there, the college I attended was the Summer home of the Cowboys. Growing up I thought I was a fan of them. Then I stayed the Summer between junior and senior year and got to know some of them. There was some nice ones - Tom Landry, Too Tall, Ed Martin, Tony Dorsett. Some less nice, mostly the ones that didn't have as big a name. Just reread that and realized it reads like the college I went to was in Frisco, TX. It is actually in Thousand Oaks, CA. Minnesota Steve
There was a move with Gene Wilder called the Frisco Kid. That's about as much as I know about Frisco.
Popular Post RichardA
I made the mistake of going over to visit Spanky. The mistake was, I had some money in my pocket and an idea for a project in the next couple of months. And I drove away with 100 bd ft of Cherry. I guess that will force me to do the project, call it kind of a tweak or nudge. I wound up with 16 4/4 boards around 7" wide and 8' or 9' ft long. And 1 board of 6/4 about 13" wide and 7 ft long. That's what happens when you have a nice guy selling wood.

And with some cherry, I'm thinkin kind of a highboy type closed cabinet thingy to make the things that are on that ugly rack disappear to. I'm thinkin, base cabinet two door access with a couple of shelves and two drawers above. Then the upper part two doors with two shelves and two smaller drawers on the bottom inside the doors. I'd say about 7' tall total. Base unit to be 32" wide, 22" deep and 34" tall. Upper unit to be 28" wide 14" deep and 52" tall. If my fingers ain't lyin to me, that's pretty close to 7'. It'll fit perfectly where the ugly thing is right now, and just plain make me feel better. I'm gonna let the Cherry acclimate for a few weeks, cause there may be a paying job coming in, near the middle of next month.

Popular Post Chestnut
Making the final payment on my new pickup today. Hopefully this means that i can save up some money to get a new planer during the fall tool sales. Love my DW735 but running more rough lumber i find myself constantly wishing i could take a far heavier cut.
Popular Post Mick S
I helped my buddy Carl assemble his 2nd bandsaw (primary is a Felder 600), a Laguna 14BX. It's convinced me that my next machine purchase will be its big brother, the 18BX. Everything went together the way it should, very intuitive and spot on. The lower blade guides are a little tough to get to, but adjust without tools. The machine runs smooth as silk.

Popular Post Tom King
Nice toy! I had to stain Red Oak with Minwax stain today. One of my Mother's younger friends (92) had some work done in her house on the floors. There are three steps that go between the levels. My Mom called, and said that her friend had fallen twice on those steps, and asked if I could go figure out what was wrong. First two were 6-5/8 and 6-3/8 rise, and third was a little over 8 inches. I cut the top step up in some strips to raise the lower two, so I wouldn't have to stain more than one piece. Fortunately, she had some stain to match. The top tread was too narrow anyway, so I made the showing part of the riser extensions, for the lower two steps out of the old top tread, and cut a new tread for the top. The new top one was the one I had to stain. I made a temporary tread out of plywood, and left the stained one in her garage so it wouldn't smell up the house so much. All are even rise now, and a straightedge hits all the noses. Fortunately, it's less than 2 miles from where we live.
drzaius
Just go take a shower Tom. It's amazing how dangerous just a small difference in riser height can make. We just got back from Mexico & saw a LOT of stairs with wildly uneven rise on the steps.
