Popular Post Coop
Not really in the mail but via slow moving turtle. We are adding on to the back of the house and submitted plans for a permit in late August. The city finally issued a permit three weeks ago and the inspector, bless his heart, finally showed today and approved the form and steel. We get concrete tomorrow!!!

Bound to be better than in assisted living. Thanks for asking. She's not improving very much. Still mostly paralyzed on one side from the stroke. One of us has to be here all the time, so it slows both of us up from doing what we normally do. It's taken my wonderful Wife about this long, I think about four months now, to get her medication right, so that she will sleep all night. It'll just be the three of us for Thanksgiving, this time. We do what we have to do.

I hope the addition goes smoothly looks like it's going to add a good amount of space for you. It's all shop space right? 2

Popular Post Chestnut
It didn't come in the mall but i bought s 14/12 on black Friday sale from acme. The 10% plus the free resaw king was just too tempting. I wanted a 10" saw but after i considered the space it would take up and the small table i started considering 14" saws. I missed a powermatic 14" for cheaper but this might be better. I'm still working on the garage so i just shoved it in my shed which has gotten awfully full.

But I once stayed in an Italian hotel where the bath was about 6' x 6', entirely tiled (even the ceiling), with a floor drain and no shower curtain. Topped off with a 220 volt hair drier hard-wired to the wall. Nothing at all scary about that, right??? 1

And yes, the reason for the build to begin with is to allow for wheel chair accessibility should the need ever arise. The shower (no tub) is 4’x7’ with no curb. Shoot, we could have showered with friends if we had done this 50 years ago! Yeah, they showed today like they said! 6

pkinneb
Picked up an early BF sale item I have seen this Whiteside V Groove edge banding kit used by a couple different wood workers I follow so thought I would give it a try. I have a couple of closet organizer projects that I plan to use it on.

That was early 1990s, so possibly not. The hotel was old construction in a small town where most of the architecture appeared to be from the turn of the millenium (the previous one!). The town was well known for producing fine furniture, such that there was a wooden chair in the town square, about 3-stories high. Funniest part of the tripwas eating at a pizzaria down the block, which was operated by chinese folks, none of whom we could understand in any language. So, random pointing to menu items brought us something that vaguely resembled pizza. At least, it was round. North of Venice, they apparently don't use tomatoes for anything.
Tom King
16x16 is about right for two closets. When I built the addition on our house, it included two 8x16 closets. They don't have any windows, so it was really pretty cheap space. They just have cheap laminate on the floor. We've been enjoying them ever since. The bathroom in that addition is 12x16. 8x12 is open space, including the shower, but also has a Jacuzzi. The other four feet has an enclosed little room for the toilet, and the long sink is open into the 12x16 part, but is recessed in front of the toilet closet. At the end of the sink is a place for the AC return duct that is fed from the adjoining room. We think it worked out pretty good. I built the shower curbless, not only just in case, but I don't like curbs anyway. It couldn't have worked out any better with my Mother living with us in a wheelchair. I'll never put any interior doors smaller than 3' in anything again. This thread has gone off track some, but I guess that's the way it goes sometimes. I went back and took a couple of pictures of one of the closets-forgot to use the wide angle lens, but anyway. I didn't want to take time to finish sheetrock in closets, but used some smooth surface LP siding board, and one of my beaded board, and MDF ceilings. No matter how big you build them, they'll get filled up, so you might as well plan enough room to be able to turn around in one.

I called a guy that I had worked with there on making custom bits about making those very bits, before I had ever seen any anywhere. He said they were already making them for someone else (I forget the company name), and sent me to them to get them. I guess they decided to start selling them themselves too.

Popular Post Robby W
Been wanting the Shinwa bevel gauge, or one with a knob on the end instead of on the side. Someone gave me a $100 Amazon gift card as a thank you for teaching a class, so I splurged on it. Got some other goodies too, but they aren't here yet. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Some reviews knocked the fit and finish, but it is adequate. No sharp edges and it locks rock solid, far better than my old guage. Glad I got it.
Coop
Tom, if we built two closets in a 16’x16’ space it would only be an invite for my wife to fill hers up, thus doubling the cost of the project.
Popular Post pkinneb
Received a some more BF items today. First some Makita batteries $159.99 pd $90 after sale and $10 coupon. I love my Makita cordless palm routers but they do use more battery power then the drills etc so it will be nice to have a couple extras. Also got a couple of 150 Magjigs for the Bow featherboard I bought on sale over the 4th of July before realizing how much the Magjigs were. They finally went on sale so picked up a couple Finally picked up a set of knobs for the new drill press table fence. Truth be told Rockler should include these in the kit as the ones they provide in the kit are all but worthless. These are very nice but were $10, $9 on sale. Ultimately they make the fence waaay more user friendly so a great upgrade and I can always use the old ones elsewhere but still feel Rockler should include them in the kit. As you can see now you can adjust the fence without being a contortionist or walking around the DP
Chestnut
I like these 2 sided impact bits. I lost the one i had in attic insulation so i bought some more. I have another bit with square and t25 torx so i can almost get any screw with the bits stored on my impact.
Popular Post pkinneb
Not physical mail but rather email...I got confirmation today that I have a seat in the MASW Michael Fortune #1 chair classes for next year. I have wanted to get into this class for 3 years so pretty pumped. Ultimately its 7 days in June and 5 days Sept. Two days of jig building followed by 5 days of steam bending and prepping parts then after some homework we go back in the fall and come out with a completed (or close to it) chair.
Popular Post Robby W
I received the rest of the goodies I bought with my gift card. Both are iGaging products. The first is a glorified speed square. I have converted to mostly using an accurate speed square for most of my layout, but wanted to try something fancier I saw this in an iGaging ad and immediately got G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome), so I'm an impulse I got this. I think I am going to like it. It is a bit heavy, but we'll made. The second is a dial caliper. I didn't read the fine print though. This one is fractions and hundredths. I wanted it to replace my old Helios dial caliper, but it doesn't read fine enough. It will also do 1/64ths. It seems to be a decent pair, but not what I wanted. Oh, well. I'll have to save up and get the Starrett calipers I was eyeballing before this popped into my head.
