Popular Post wtnhighlander
Tinkering in the shop today, closing in on this box I started years ago, and set aside. It will make sense when the pieces come together. I also hogged out some waste in a chunk of oak 'cookie', to make a carved bowl-ish sort of thing. Removed some bulk with a forstner bit, before jumping into the carving... Psych! That carving gouge was just a decoy, I used an angle grinder to form the hollow, and made my shop floor into a close proximity of Myrtle Beach at low tide. One of these cheap grinding discs removes material fast, but its flat edges don't do concave surfaces cleanly at small diameters. For that, I use a Kutzall shaping disc, which has a rolled edge, and can even under-cut a hollow.

wtnhighlander
Cute gnomes! Do you also make the lettering on the metal plaque, or was that purchased? The only activity that makes me wish for a CNC tool of some sort is lettering...

Popular Post BonPacific
I spent yesterday helping a friend build a simple cutting table for their dressmaking. It's been a long time since I did any work in an apartment parking space, but we got it done. Ended up turning my tracksaw into an impromtu miter box. The cheapo Wen continues to perform better than expected, though it did stall out once or twice when trying to be aggressive with ganged up 2x4s.

At the time, I wasn’t ready to retire but the opportunity was hard to turn down. The agreement was for me to work for another year and thru mutual agreement, that extended until I wanted to leave. Being a workaholic, I stayed until January of this year when it hit me. Both the extension and time to retire worked in my favor. Plan your work and work your plan. You will know when it’s time. Best decision other than marrying my bride, that I ever made.
legenddc
Only 30 more years until I can retire unless things go my way tonight... Been a busy past few days. Finished building the 3 panel doors, painted them with the sprayer but had to run them inside too soon since a tree was about to be taken down across the street. Touched them up on Friday and got them hung, final one went up Saturday morning. Also got the door stop trim on, caulked and primed 2x. Blew the leaves a couple of times and hit a few spots on the deck with the electric power washer where some idiot had tracked paint on them. Returned some stuff to Home Depot and fixed the kids bathroom toilet flapper last night. Was able to list a few things for sale and should have someone coming today to buy the paint sprayer since I can't think of any projects I'll need it for in the near future. Famous last words right? Fighting the urge to paint the coat closet since everything is out. Hoping to sneak in some time today during work to paint the trim 1-2x so we can load it back up.
Popular Post Tom King
I guess if being retired means doing what you want to when you want to, I 've been retired for a long time. I'm still planning on working until noon on the day of my funeral though. I wouldn't be much good for anything if I didn't have something to do. 5

Not have to sit in front of a computer responding to emails or sitting on calls. Would much rather spend me time working on projects, reading, helping others, etc.
