Had some other yard tasks on the list but we got rained out. Chet, whatcha gonna plant and how big is your garden? What are the borders of your garden made from? My tomato plants are about 16” tall, green onions are coming along and I got my first asparagus crop yesterday. We had them with scrambled eggs and ricotta cheese for breakfast this morning. Ronn W
OK, so my procedure has been cancelled (postponed) (as in: Don't call us. We'll call you,) since the Hospital has a Covid-19 case. So I stopped taking the blood thinner that ahd been required before the procedure. 36 hours later, I thoughtit would be a good idea to do a little carving practice after dinner and 2 glasses of wine. I brushed some chips of the piece with one hand and forgot where my other hand with the gouge was. Well I could not get it to stop bleeding so a trip to the ER. They would not let my wife in due to their lockdown but we got it all taken care of. Almost needed a couple of stitches but ended up using medical superglue instead. That's neat stuff. So I am fine. It wasn't that bad just must have been the remnants of the blood thinner in my system. I have heard of using store bought super glue to seal a cut? Have any of you done that? Does it work? Does it sting like crazy? Stay safe.

treeslayer
Glad to hear you’re ok Ronn, I’ve used regular super glue, stings like crazy at first but works good, I should get some medical grade stuff just to have around as Paul says
wtnhighlander
I use the regular (thin) CA glue on small cuts pretty often. Works well for a while, but skin oils tend to break it loose after a few hours. Maybe works better for clean cuts that can close up, but mine are mostly scrapes. legenddc
No kidding. I forgot they sell skin glue for at home. Will go get some when I can. Anyone have any recommendations for drywall putty that is more flexible then the standard stuff? I patched some cracks in a wall a while ago and they've come back in a few places. Any tips or tricks? @Tom King
Tpt life
Drywall cracks are often hanging issues. If the boards are screwed to truss bottom cords, they should not be screwed within two feet of any interior wall. The truss bottom will lift and lower at times, tearing the paper joint. Is this a ceiling joint? Also, mud shrinks as it cures and should have paper or mesh to reinforce. Bleck....too many words. Can you post pics? legenddc
They're in a few spots, some on the outside walls, others on the inside. It's a 45 year old house and we've been here for 8 years. I suspect some is seasonal movement. Not tearing at the ceiling or corner joints, usually between the corner of a window or air vent to the corner of the wall. Not straight either, crazy almost like a river bed shape. The things you notice when you're stuck inside!
Tpt life
Riverine shape would indicate settling. Foundation if the house is dry. Water intrusion and rot are another suspect.
wtnhighlander
Think this would do the trick? https://www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-ElastoPatch-32-fl-oz-White-Patching-Compound/50198043?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-pnt-_-google-_-lia-_--_-wallrepair-_-50198043-_-0&store_code=496&placeholder=null&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7duLl9y46AIVmq_ICh1_nwrZEAQYASABEgLsHfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Tom King
I would have to see the cracks, and the house, to say what would be the best thing to do. Nothing you put over a crack, by itself, will be a permanent fix. It's strange if they go across a sheet, and not along joints. Never use the mesh tape for anything. That Dap stuff would be worth a try, but I'd only put in in a small area to start with. I've never used any. I can't think of any Dap products that I don't like okay. Tpt life
Mesh is good for plaster base, and riverine cracks make me suspicious it’s plaster.
legenddc
Definitely not plaster, it’s drywall that’s been repaired a lot. Here’s a picture of one of the cracks. This is an interior wall and despite the orientation it’s going from the vent cutout to the vertical corner of a wall.
Tpt life
That needs paper. You could caulk it with painters tape, that would be the flexible option, but it will always show without a proper treatment like it is a joint. .
Tom King
I expect the drywall was broken when they cut for, or put that vent in. Second the paper tape.

Mark J
I have been taking the opportunity afforded by this mass stay-cation to clear out years and years of documents and debris from my attic office. So far I've done about a 3 square foot patch. I figure that's about 2% of the job.
legenddc
Thanks for the drywall tips everyone. You're making me want to buy a model but I feel like I have less time with all of this. Good luck cleaning Mark!
