Popular Post pkinneb
Finished up the new vise handle Also got the Oliver Machinery planer wired and ran a quick test. Had to run back to HD those with a keen eye will see why real quick... First impressions are, like all LB planers I have been around this thing is loud...but does not get much louder when in use which is a big thumbs up for the spiral head. I was really impressed with the cut quality but if you look close at the last pic (about 2" up from the right) you will see it has some snipe. It's not terrible but I am going to make an auxiliary bed and see if I can get that to go away. More to come but so far in very limited testing it seems like a solid machine. Once the auxiliary bed is made I'll run sum curly and birdseye maple through it

Popular Post Chet
Not just what I did for a day but most of last week. I was on call for jury duty last week, so not wanting to get into something serious and get interrupted, I did a bunch of shop maintenance. Cleaned and waxed all of the cast iron tops, sharpened some chisels and plane irons, I am really happy with my purchase of the Tormek sharpening system. I also reorganized my measure and marking storage space to make room for a couple of new tri squares. I did make a couple storage boxes. They are the size of Festool systainer 2's. When I sold my Domino it left a couple of spaces in the cabinet. One has accessories for the router and and track saw and the other is mostly empty at this point. Red lid handles because that is what I had in rattle can paint.
Coop
Obviously you planer stand is on castors and you have the rubber mat in front of it. One, any prob getting it over the mat and two, do you have the planer hooked up to your dc system or rely on the fan of your 735 to discharge into a bag of sort? Chet
Coop, the stand the planer is on is the one thing in my shop that isn't on casters. The planer is on the dust system, the DC is right behind it in the picture. You can just see the flex hose in the upper right of the picture. Coop
But the infeed table appears to be right next to the wall?

That is the garage door, when using the planer the door is open. I can slide the machine forward some and then I can plane up to about 30 inches with out the door being open. When the weather is pleasant it is open a lot any way.
Popular Post wtnhighlander
I enjoyed the 'major winter storm' that left the local grocery totally devoid of milk and bread before 9 am yesterday. 1
RichardA
Yeah, that "major " storm that was supposed to hit last night, finally showed up at 1 PM this afternoon, after 8 hours of rain. Middle Tennessee stores were overcrowded, yesterday morning, and the store help was shopping elsewhere.
JohnG
We have gotten about 6” of snow compared to the forecast of 10-15”.
Mark J
Well I'm glad to hear it wasn't as bad as the meteorologists "wanted" it to be. @JohnG& @Tom King, 6" is still a lot for your neck of the woods. What do you do with it, or does it just melt fast enough on its own?
Tom King
We only got an inch of snow, followed by maybe a few tenths of freezing rain, but now the temp is 33 and raining, so it's getting dissolved. We planned for it. One reason I'm still driving a 21 year old truck is that our vehicles never go on the road when there is salt on them. I drove out to the highway Thursday, planning to go somewhere, but saw the lines of brine on the road, so I turned around and came back in. We have two litters of puppies 8 weeks old today, so we've had plenty of entertainment. We produced 43 puppies last year, and looks like this year will probably follow in the same footsteps. This is their inside play area. They're good entertainment for my almost 106 year old Mother, who also lives with us. After 8 at night, soon after my Mom goes to bed, the puppies get to run loose in the house with us. Wheelchair wheels are too dangerous for the little ones. There hasn't been an accident on the floor since just before they were 6 weeks old. After starting a batch of 15 last time, having only 6 is easy.

My wife did pass on her shift tonight, but they had more staff on shift tonight than usual and the weather means not many people are walking through the ER doors. I did cut up a horse stall mat to make a soft blade to clear our road (not state maintained, half mile long) if it sticks around too long or if the neighbors have trouble getting out. We don’t get enough snow around here to justify a snow blade or blower.

Tom King
I've used the bucket on the tractor many times for moving it, but it's so much wear on the cutting edge that I stopped using it on pavement. We have the Farm Use WRX that goes good in snow if we absolutely need to get out.

JohnG
Not weather related but we’ve had a sofa on order since July and a cooktop since October. We were looking at 8mo for the oven we want but my wife found maybe the only place in the country that had a couple in stock so that’s actually in transit now. I don’t have much time to run a bigger circuit for the new oven (going from single to double). Might have to hire it out but we already spent more on the oven itself than we had planned to spend on all new kitchen appliances combined.
Chestnut
Went to the musical Come from Away last night. It was one of the best musicals I've been to. If that's your type of thing and you get the chance to go I recommend it.
legenddc
I shoveled the walk this morning. Just straight slush. Very strange to have the temperature rise 10*+ over night. Yesterday I got some work done on my TV Stand and helped a neighbor and his son on a pinewood derby car. His son didn't seem into at all to start, but he perked up and told his mom all the tools he got to use.
Popular Post Tom King
I've never even seen a snow blower, but talking about things getting old and playing out, our microwave quit yesterday. I think it's the only one we've ever had. Pam was a bit miffed that it stopped working, but I looked at the label on the door, and it said 1986. I told Pam that I didn't think it owed us anything else, and that it had been a good one.

Popular Post Chestnut
Doing some northerner things. Using a wide working tool on ice was odd but the 18v dewalt handled the 8" forstner bit like a champ. 6
