Yeah I took the "Case on Stand" class a couple years ago and it was an intense week but I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to diving further into this subject matter
Mark J
There are more turning classes at Marc Adams, but I am really tempted to sign up for glass blowing and neon sign making.

Chip Sawdust
I actually made some sawdust, more of the self-trained kind of guy (jealous much? lol). Made a few mistakes along the way, as usual, but I somehow make the work in the long run. My wife married me knowing I'm not perfect so at least I don't have THAT expectation to meet! We don't have classes nearby here in the "Inland Empire" so I live vicariously through y'all who do On 12/18/2019 at 5:32 PM, Mark J said: There are more turning classes at Marc Adams, but I am really tempted to sign up for glass blowing and neon sign making. Popular Post treeslayer
nothing like an open fire Drew, beats anything on TV and my wife absolutely loves hot dogs cooked outside. i burn outside all year long but a mild winter day with a little snow on the ground is the best i think.

Texas definition of a mild winter day is temps in the low 60’s with no snow within hundreds of miles! 1

Popular Post RichardA
Today I sat in a chair on my front lawn and watched a new roof go on my house. It was shingle now it's metal, and had been leaking over my front porch 10 months before I lost my wife. I wish she could see it.
Tom King
I don't know why anyone would put on an asphalt shingle roof now.

Popular Post wtnhighlander
Today, I turned a couple sheets of 3/4 MDF into molding profiles to make a room-wrapping, narrow, light duty shelf system for Dad's new 'art studio'. A professional painter and illustrator, now retired, Dad and Mom recently downsized from their 60 acre "farm" to a smaller house in a neighborhood, closer to me and my sister. Dad wants this shelf to go around the spare bedroom he is using for his work space, at door / window frame height, so he can display samples of his art. The shelf should hold pieces up to 12" or so tall, leaned against the wall. Framed or not. The profile looks like this: Except rotated 90* counter-clockwise. I made 1.5 sheets into 64 lineal feet of parts. Plan on gluing it all together tomorrow. All cuts made with a 7 1/4, 40T circular saw blade. Groove in shelf board cut with a dado stack, and the square notches in the tapered profile piece were milled with a single, 2-tooth chipper from the stack, since it cuts a flat, square kerf. Worked in MDF, might not on real wood. Anyway, MDF is so messy, I resort to my 'Kansas' style dust management system, a.k.a., working in the driveway. I have to say, wrestling those 95 lb. sheets across my contractor saw is a real pain in the lower lumbar region....
