Popular Post gee-dub
Put new springs on a couple of deck boxes. These were Suncast resin deck boxes from Costco. Original springs wouldn't hold the lid up. First set of replacements worked for about a week. Second set seem much stronger . . . we'll see. I will avoid Suncast in the future and stick to Lifetime for these types of products. I have Lifetime items that have lived under the California sun for nearly 15 years and still look and work great.

BillyJack
Haven’t been in the shop all week. Doctor doubled my blood pressure medicine and it puts me half asleep and I won’t work in the shop like that. I’m on my second full trash can I’m dumping of wood scraps. At least I can clean…
Popular Post gee-dub
A friend dropped the top to his pop-up trailer onto the sink / counter / cabinet while re-doing the lift cables. I rebuilt the broken parts for him in exchange for lunch. The original was in three pieces when he brought it over.
Popular Post Gary Beasley
Those things are a bit fragile. I had mine fall apart in my hands as I was folding it down for travel. Wound up redesigning and rebuilding the top with a few more inches height and depth using box joints. Reused the top and doors. From the looks of it there was barely enough glue to hold it together from the factory.
Popular Post legenddc
Got back late Friday night from my cross-country 3 cities in a week tour. Kids had soccer on Saturday morning and then we lounged around and picked up things in the house. Helped my nextdoor neighbor get rid of a broken concrete bench and moved the mower she hasn’t used in 12+ years to the curb. Picked weeds for almost two hours this morning before it rained and jump started my other neighbors car.
Popular Post BillyJack
Son in law brought over a flat screen, Milwaukee converter and battery and set up to watch the Chiefs football game in my shop. Set the tv on my Grizzly edge sander and watched a two hour game while working on the drawers. Pretty cool.

Popular Post drzaius
Just got back from volunteering at a race where my daughter and a couple of friends were running a 89km ultra. It was really hot (for Canada), 30*C and full sun, so the race was very tough and there were many DNFs. My crew were able to finish with lots of chafing, blisters, black toenails and a few scrapes. Steve has run 28km, 89km and a 192km races, all in the past 5 weeks. The man is 56 years old and is a machine. Good times for sure

Popular Post Ronn W
So the old picket fence is gone an the new posts are installed. I salvage 13 hoirizontal rails about 7 feet long and 4 posts. Going to make benches to hold growing pots. Some of the cedar is really soft (rotten). I hope that I can find enough solid wood for the project. I pulled all the nails the held the pickets onto the rails - and a few screws the replaced the nais over the years. I put and old blade on the table saw and started slicing the paint layer off one of the rails. Dust and paint chips flew everywhere. The wood under paint was very wet so I scraped the loosest paint. Much of it just pealed off. I am going to let them sit for a week or so. Never would have been able to do it with a Sawstop (system engaged). After I slice the paint of all four sides I will let them sit again for a while. I have learned that one should not paint a cedar fence. Water enters the wood where the pickets lap the rails. It travels inside and cannot escape through the paint film. The new fence will be stained with a simi-translucent oil based stain that will breathe. It won't be white but it will last a lot longer.

I have run two full and several half's and cannot imagine running that far much less the commitment to training that it takes to do it! The commitment required is so inspirational to me and I suspect many others.

Arthritis in my knees keeps me from running anymore, but I really enjoy the trail running community and just like to hang around with those people. 50km is the longest I've run and I just can't imagine going the longer distances under those conditions.
