Popular Post Chip Sawdust
And I was fiddling about making dovetails, the box I made Mama thought was lovely so I won’t be using it as an ammo box after all... she likes it for decoration.
legenddc
Finished cleaning/painting the free wrought iron patio furniture we got so I can finally bring the tools back downstairs. Would have been done 4 weeks ago but we have a hornet's nest back there (inside a bay window). Somehow got stuck moving rocks for a little garden wall since a neighbor had extra and wanted it gone. Should finish unloading that from the truck tonight and might actually be able to get some woodworking done this week. Still trying to finish up my lathe cart I started months ago.

Chestnut
Do you carry the remote with you, or leave it in a dedicated spot?

I have the remote clipped to the strap of my shop apron, and I never do anything in the shop without that apron on. Otherwise I just feel naked, & no one wants that.

Chestnut
I used to us an apron then stopped. In the winter i use one of the fire hose material shirts that Duluth trading company sells. I really like it. My remote has a dedicated spot and i don't carry it with me. Popular Post Mark J
Remote for DC sits by the lathe which gets used the most. All the other tools have to have their hoses connected before use, so it's just easier to hit the DC switch then. So naturally I walk over to the DC, hook up the hose and forget to turn it on. The DC on the bandsaw might be very good, but I'll probably never find out. 1

The DC on the bandsaw might be very good, but I'll probably never find out. When I was working in my friends shop I did this all the time, but there I’d open/close the blast gates and forget to actually turn the DC on. Happened many times. Started a shop vac/DD cart today. Just recently bought the DD and didn’t want it taking up more floor space. I couldn’t find my bag of casters, so I’ll have to go get some more, then will add storage spots for attachments and a way to store the hose neatly. Based somewhat on Jay Bates’ cart. Knocked it out in about 1.5-2hrs. Made some silly mistakes, but it’s not supposed to be fancy anyway. 3
Chip Sawdust
I have to try to hang my DC from the ceiling or on the wall to recover my sparse floor space. But to do that I have to move my dust filter from where it’s at on the ceiling first, then build a pony wall that drops down from the ceiling , then plumb the DC into its new position.... i druther build something! Maybe this winter.... Meanwhile, Mama wants some stairs for the little dog so she can jump up on the bed, so that project is in front of the curved front desk I’m ready to build - for myself! Yes! A project for meeeeeee!!!!
Coop
@JohnG, I did something similiar utilizing the HF dc with the Wynn filter. I built a setup and added casters. Although it works great, it also takes up 7.5 sq ft of shop space which is like an elephant in a china cabinet. I need to figure out a new location and configuration. Popular Post SawDustB
I was cleaning out the garage today, and took a hard look at my dust deputy setup. Once I cleared the junk away, I was left with this: The problem is, inevitably the vacuum gets tangled with the electrical, never mind if the dust collector gets rolled over here. I realized I had the perfect space beside the hose reel to mount it to the wall. I always love getting stuff off the floor. Here's where I ended up after building a shelf for it. Much improved, although I may shorten up the vacuum fittings. My shelf is built from melamine and pocket screws, but it does the job nicely. Now I just need to work on the dust collector and its cyclone...
Popular Post Gary Beasley
Got back from the Turning Southern Style woodturning symposium in Dalton today. Had some very good people presenting, including Stuart Batty and David Ellsworth. Spent too much money and had lots of fun.
